New Training House For Professional Forum Posters
A growing trend in the professional Starcraft 2 world is for groups of professional gamers to get a house or apartment to live in and practice SC2 together. Recently, Fnatic and Root announced they have teamed up to establish a house in Florida, FXO has plans for a house in Malaysia, and there seems to be something brewing in Sweden with TLO and a few other European pros. This is in addition to EG's house in “Korea, wait no, California, er, Arizona, but maybe not at all, we really have no fucking clue”. Pro-gaming houses are already a standard for top Korean teams, so it is no surprise that top non-Korean teams are creating pro-gaming houses in order to bridge the skill gap between Koreans and non-Koreans. A pro-gaming house with multiple high caliber players living and training together creates an atmosphere where they can discuss strategy regularly and openly and improve as players.
Now it appears that this concept has spread outside of the realm of professional gamers. evolo and gosupeon, members of the TeamLiquid.net community, have announced the establishment of a professional forum poster house.
The new pro forum poster house (little girl not included)
“We saw all these professional SC2 players forming houses to improve their SC2 skills,” said evolo, “so we figured, 'why not form a house for professional forum posters to improve our posting skills?' We discuss posting theory, help each other make new posts, and just live in an environment focused on making good, quality posts on TeamLiquid.net.” In addition, the residents of the training house will go over past posts and look at good posts by other posters in order to analyze and mimic their posting style.
When asked about their schedule in the new house, gosupeon had this response:
“Our schedule is similar to that of a pro-gamer. We get up, we have a quick breakfast and put in a good 4 hours of posting. Then, we break for lunch and go over our posts for the day and help each other improve. After lunch, we do our daily ranking posts for about 4 hours to gauge where we stand in the house and see who needs some additional help with their posts. Lastly, we have dinner and are free to do whatever until bedtime. Some people actually play and watch Starcraft 2!”
One of the hopes for the training house is that the house will help bridge the gap between the Korean and foreign posters . The Koreans are widely considered to be the best posters in the world and regularly put in 12 hours of posting every day on PlayXP.com. Many foreign posters have even gone to Korea to get a taste of that kind of environment and to improve their skills. Generally, these posters greatly improve, but the demanding schedule leaves little time for other activities and many posters are returning home in hopes of being a part of the growing posting scene in the west.
“The Korean posting scene is amazing,” current resident dnomaiD.puCCi said, “but we feel that Starcraft 2 posting doesn't require as much practice time due to the new mechanics. Overall, we try to put in about 8 hours of posting, some do more, some do less. We want to have a relaxed atmosphere that isn't too demanding.”
“The training is paying off already,” said motbok, a top poster from the training house, “just check any of the Live Report threads on TeamLiquid.net. All of the good, quality posting in those threads are a direct result of the excellent training we are receiving here.”

+ Show Spoiler [Note from the Editor] +Ha, I bet you thought you weren't going to get an IA post this week, but here it is! I've been trying to get some RL stuff done, and working on something else IA-related. + Show Spoiler +, so I've been slacking a little bit. I'll try to get another article out early next week, but don't hold me to that.

I'd like to start the initiative to sponsor TorteDeLini for the pfp house. Is anyone else interested? I feel that with rigorous training, we can help bring his fp skill from the amateur to the pro level.

I loved that jab at LR threads at the end. Keep up with the good posting.

This idea seems really stupid. It makes sense for pro's to live together in a house since there is a financial incentive for them to do well. To have people live together in a house to improve their abilities in something that yields 0 money isn't logical. Also, how are they gonna measure their ranking posts? It's not like a game of sc2 where the winner is clear... there's no objective way to determine who is doing a better or worse job... it's going to be highly subjective.
I really don't see this working out.

I really don't see this working out. On the contrary. With the introduction of postchart, we now have graphs on the objective performance of posters in the context of an individual post. We're finding more and more that we can find the best posters based on factors such as WPM; you cannot be considered a competitive poster until you have at least 120WPM.
Most threads have a clear winner, and it is easy to support this style of living with the help of the pro team's sponsors, Wikipedia, Godwin of Godwin's Law fame, and Razer's keyboard division.

Haha, same here! He'd be Code S for posting. His blog about his ban was brilliant. True quality posting with a focus on the macro aspects of a long post.
Also, definitely chuckled out loud when I read the EG house thing. So true.
I love how these posts get replies where I can't tell if the people are still missing the sarcasm or are being sarcastic themselves. XD
