While the title may seem obvious (duh he's a pro gamer), what I mean is he is very creative and can make things happen. It's not an ABC script with LT. That's what makes him SO very fun to watch. Even when he takes a loss it promises to be an entertaining match no matter what race he plays against.
Sometimes criticized for not making enough gateways to re-up his army, I find it refreshing to see a player that can still win with out OMG he didn't lay down his 6th gateway at exactly 7 min 32 seconds type obsession with build order. He likes to dictate the match. Here is my strategy I don't care if I lose this is my game and I'm going to force you to deal with me on my terms.
From what I have gathered on LT, he has taken breaks from SC/SC2 and doesn't put 100% focus into solely playing SC. I of course am extremely envious of someone that has that much talent to be able to stay competitive without compulsive practice.
Hats off to you LT, you earned another fan!
PS
I wish I was good enough to say the KA can go...

Also, LT stands for Lost Temple.... can't you just call him Tyler?

Didn't realize that! Thank you!

Yes, and same with this game when he practices for a specific game/tournament.

I believe it was Day9 that made the statement about him consistently not making enough gates etc.

was about to say. Are you sure he's not just adapting his style in a way you arent familiar with?

Yes. But if his macro were perfect I bet the number of gateways he currently makes would also be perfect. Hell in Brood War he used to put his buildings in the same damn spot every single time.
|
He has extremely refined timings as well, the gateway part is really just a thing that day9 said.

why do people call him Tyler(tealer),Nony(noonie) is so much better.
|
Did people really call him noonie when he played, or was it just for trolling? O.o + Show Spoiler +Or am I just really confused and noonie is the correct pronunciation?

Hmmm sorry but Tyler is one of the best in the game at perfecting build orders and increasing his mechanics as a result. I do agree with a lot of what you said, but he probably has as much of an obsession with build orders and timings as anyone in the game. Also, his macro is better than most top players even though he might not make enough gateways from time to time; I believe that to be a result of trying to be as ruthlessly efficient as possible, which sometimes results in under producing the optimal number of gateways.

You don't seem to understand... less gateways is more optimal if you have perfect macro, at least while building up your army for a push. With these new warpgate mechanics, it's still better to get more gateways a lot of the time for immediate reinforcement. Anyway, less gateways doesn't necessarily mean worse macro! It can, in fact, mean better macro.

You don't seem to understand. As stated Day9 was the one that said that liquid Tyler had a propensity for not making enough unit producing structures.
So if you would like to imply Day9 doesn't understand.. good luck with THAT.

I think most people pronounced it "No knee" while its correct pronunciation was "New Knee".
I was a fan of his in broodwar because he basically defined what it meant to be Protoss. He went in to a game with these insane builds/timings and executed them flawlessly. His theoretical understanding of the game was unparalleled and when he went to Korea he placed second in courage, barely losing 3-2 to the winner.
If you don't know what courage is, its how Korean BW players got their progamer licenses. Once you win courage you get a license and are recruited by a team. iirc at that time there were only like 4 a year and it was an insanely impressive feat because he had only been in Korea for 1-2 months.
But yeah, his play in the TSL was awesome. It was also great seeing a Protoss whose best match up was PvZ and showed you exactly why that was. In TSL2 he walked through one of the most impressive line ups of players to take his thrown and if you watch the games you will see incredible micro, build order execution, and monsterous macro.
I actually remember the first replay I saw of nony back like 6 years ago and I just said to myself "This guy could be a pro gamer" even back then watching him play he macro'd flawlessly for like 25 minutes of a game. That was back when he was on rS.
Anyway, mini rant over. Long story short. Nony was a really great player. I don't watch any sc2 or I am sure I would feel the same about his play in that. As a possible answer to why he might be short on gateways sometimes. I would think Nony takes the mind set if you can't play a build perfectly, then don't play. So in a game where he demonstrates perfect macro, chances are you probably wouldn't need more gateways than whatever he makes.

I pronounced it "Nawny" Maybe if he put more thought into spelling his name into sounding how the person thinks it's pronounced then maybe it would've stuck (Nony is a good looking name though).

Whoa are you serious? I always pronounced it Nony like pony. I've been pronouncing it incorrectly for over a year now and I'm a pretty big fan of his games
