I don't think I should play this game.

I just can't control myself. Play a few games (at rank 1 gold) and lose to like 5 banes and a stream of lings. Or 3-3 mmm, lose it all and because I've been using mules die to dt's. I just get so worked up and take the game too seriously to enjoy it anymore.

I'll still watch you Starcraft. But playing? It's just too much and I'm not good enough to get to the stage where 'losses are ok' I'm not raging at people but I'm raging at myself.I know what to do but it seems like every time I get something going, by chance my opponent does a perfect counter and destroys me.

Bleugh. Fucking starcraft. Knowing me I'll jump on tomorrow and write a blog exactly the same as this but for the time being. ARGH.

Anyone else had these kinds of rolls before? And how did you get a feel for the game again? Win a game lose 6, win 2, lose 5

Try to keep your mind off of ladder ratings and just play to get better. Perhaps play half the game and spend more time in replays and find holes in your game if your losing to the same mix over and over.

I think your quality of life would be immediately improved by scouting.

It is good that you are aware of your problem. That is the begnining. The first step out is to be aware in the moment you're about to get frustrated, and chose not to be.

Just literally never look at your profile screen or ladder rating. Think of laddering as purely practice and that you WILL lose half of your games just like everyone else. Even the best of the best lose roughly half their games so you aren't alone.

I actually enjoy losing with the thought "the more I lose, the easier my future games will be".

Do what I did with Civ3: stop playing until you come to thinking that you will only have fun playing. Otherwise it's not worth sending 20 knights to kill 2 pikemen.

Eventually you have to get to the point where it doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you learn something or get better at something.

I once let myself lose 10-15 games in a row by just trying all kinds of crazy cheese. It was fun, I enjoyed myself, and learned a lot about different kinds of cheese, micro, and map exploitation.

Stop playing ladder and start playing friends. It'd only frustrating when you can't properly rematch, or you feel like you're being judged. If you play with friends then even if you don't win very often you will at least think 'well I know can win because I've done it before against this person.' With ladder you just never get to see most people again.

Unfortunate thing about SC2 tho is that you're kinda forced to play the ladder unless you make friends on the forums.

Noone and nothing forces you to play; if you don't enjoy it then don't continue. I was in a similar situation - I had greatly enjoyed the beta since some friends played along with me every now and then. But when retail hit, most didn't play past the campaign and I was basically alone on SC2. I tried playing 1vs1 out of habit but quickly noticed it wasn't fun any longer without talking about it with friends or analyzing replays.

I took a break for several months and recently started playing again, but only casually, and only random team games. I'm having a much more relaxed and fun experience than before.

So - try something else, or stop playing if you're not having fun. Don't let a game run your life .).

If you play in the Obs maps or do KOTH games based out of channels you can have a very fun social experience. Also provided that you enjoy team games you can always play RT and find someone there who wants to make an AT with you. Those people are surprisingly common.

The system for playing with your friends doesn't feel as smooth as BW(I'd like to be able to just name a game and set a password and put it in the channel rather than having to invite, for instance) but it's not prohibitive.

As with everything, every loss is a chance for you to improve. Just don't make the same mistake too many times and keep playing, and eventually you'll be the best.

sorry to say but 1v1 is quite competitive

if it's too much for you, either practice alone and get better or play 2v2 or something

my 2 cents
