So, a long time ago while walking to school i saw a sign on the door to my student union building. It said "Tryouts for Idol(The Swedish version of American Idol), tomorrow at 10.00". Now, most people who know me would not think me to look twice at this sign. I did however, have a secret interest in singing and performing. The thing was, i had never sung to anyone before.
So i decided, what the hell. I'll do it, just to see if i dare. So i went there the next morning, an hour before the posted time just to make sure i'd be able to get a chance. There was already a huge queue, but luckily i met an old friend in the queue which made the experience a lot more pleasant. After queuing for a couple of hours a couple of people came out and told people they would not have time for everyone. They then proceeded to cut the queue right behind me. I was literally the last person they were going to let in!
So i finally got my chance in the room with the judges, and i was so nervous i was shaking so bad i could hardly speak. I have never been that nervous in my entire life! But i did sing. I seriously doubt it was any good, but at least i was not bad enough to make national TV.
However, a band with one of my friends were in need of a singer, and they had heard about me auditioning. I tried telling them that i was really no good at singing, but they kept asking me to at least give it a try. So i did. And i am really glad i did. I was surely pretty crap at singing, but turns out i could actually learn! I had a great time practicing and especially performing at the small gigs we played. We did only covers at first, but i had an interest in making original music. I however knew nothing about making music, but luckily one of the guitarists had some experience. We finished a single song that i was rather happy with.
This summer however, he went away and we haven't played since then. It's a bit sad since i enjoyed it a lot, but what i mostly enjoyed was making our own songs. So, i'd like to share with you, the first song from Glenn. Floating Into Space.

Let me know what you think of it, everyone i've talked to have liked it. But those people have been friends and family, and i expect them to be rather biased.
Would you listen to more songs from Glenn after hearing this first one?
(Consider this is recorded using a drum machine, so the drums aren't that great)

Very mainstream sounding, would probly hear something like this on an alternative/indie radio station around here
Just know that you can be a GREAT frontman for a band even if those stupid "idol" judges dont think ur an amazing singer. What they are looking would rarely belong in a good band.

It sounds like something they would play in the intro sequence of an American Pie movie.
I would encourage you to get bit more out there and find some sort of sound that separates you from 10billion other bands. You've got a good band voice though.

You've successfully acheived an acceptable standard sound i think. There's a bit more to art than that. Your lyrics are something i can relate to, and i think alot of people can relate to, but i don't think anyone needs to have that simple, pitiful complaint artfully condoned for them. The complaint that the way most of us go through life is a failure by our own standards which we can't escape, and don't even try. There could easily be confusion when you complain about something outloud, let alone publicly, that you actually think it deserves sympathy, which however relatable it may be, it does not.

Yeah, i always felt the lyrics are indeed a bit shallow. And thanks for pointing that out. I should probably spend some more time on it.

It has got potential, and I really like your voice.
Two things I'd like you guys to work on though is 1) the guitar strumming is boring. It's basically only down-strokes which, to me, is dull. 2) As I said, I really like your voice, but I think you might want to get some lessons regarding sining technique. You have a vibrato which is really typical for singers with little experience. However your sound is awesome and your on pitch, and it's definitely something I'd listen to!
Keep at it!
