Just interested to see the reasons people get hyped for a match. For instance, the amount of hype I feel for a match is determined by 3 things: 1. The "liking differential" between the players, i.e. a higher score means that I like a player much more. 2. The prestige of the match. 3. The quality of the players.
These 3 criteria are roughly equal in value. I then MULTIPLY the scores of each to give my "hype factor". This means that a low score in any criteria will adversely effect the "hype factor". It also works both ways, the more hyped I am, the better/worse the feeling happens if the results are good/bad.
Based on the above, my dream match is Jinro vs MC, GSL finals. What are your own criteria to get hyped?

I would add a "What I have seen from the players in the past" criteria.
If one (or both) of the players has a (to me) boring playstyle, I am less likely to watch.
For example, in the beta, idra was no doubt a great player, which usually was enough to get me watching, but I absolutely despised his super-boring playstyle back then. This caused me to not watch many games just because idra was in them. Nowadays he has become much more entertaining (but not even close to the really entertaining players out there.)

Those are good criteria but you forgot one crucial aspect. Is Stork in it? If yes then proceed to get hyped. If no then enjoy it bc it's BW... Oh I guess I should add a provision for sc2. Is a Liquid in it? If so then get hyped. If not then + Show Spoiler + enjoy it bc it's sc2.

i agree with meapak_ziphh stork in game is a must :D
but besides your 3 points i also go on the player outside of the game i always love players with good personality like some idra bm, cocky players or even super nice/laid back players like jinro or nony.

I love seeing games (in our league i mean [HSL]) when the two players have bmed each other, its really hilarious seeing two guys fighting over whos better like a week before their match, even if they arent gosu the mere fact of them fighting so hard hype the match a lot to the point that i even cast the game cause DUUUUUUUUDE they hate each other so much lol

I would agree with you, but there should also be some accounting for match up. A ZvZ final between the 2 top Zerg's in the world, one of which I really want to win, would still get a low score. Another thing would be how many times this particular match up has occurred. I mean, I could probably watch Flash vs JD all day but other matches would lose hype considerably if I've seen it quite a few times.

From highest criteria to watching a game to not watching it at all. This coutns for BW and sc2 combined when I want to watch a game.
1. BW Legend? 2. BW hero? (Bisu / Flash / Leta) 3. Potential fireworks? 4. Originality / surprise build wins? 5. Upsets? 6. All-ins / cheese / short games

1. Whatever I like the player or not. For example I really don't get hyped for NesTea matches, I just don't get excited by the dude. On the other hand I would stay up to 3 in the morning to watch MarineKing.
2. The match itself. let's be honest, I won't stay till early morning to watch MC vs BitByBit, but MC vs Idra? Dear lord would I watch it.
3. The map. If there is a match on Blistering Sands I would watch it, even if there are terrible players playing it. The map just breeds interesting games.
My dream is seeing MarineKing winning the finals. MK, please don't be SC2's Yellow

I rarely hype myself up for a match. I find that often, it's the unexpected matchups (Jyj vs ggaemo) that produce gems, while series with big names (Flash vs Jaedong) often disappoint.
I like surprises.

In no particular order ... these increase hype for me:
1) foreigner or highly ranked korean 2) grudge match or some back story 3) non-mirror matchup 4) finals moreso than early rounds 5) series rather than single match

The maps
On good maps, any players can have good matches.

Definitely has to be big names. I'm pretty sure I'd be more hyped for a Bisu vs Savior match than a Bogus vs Calm match.

Depends on the players mostly. Since I am I Hiya fan I always get excited for his games (they are usually very entertaining). Other than that I will get excited for any finals matches. I like seeing and hearing the crowd during the games.
Winners league between 2 good teams can get me hyped up too.

1) Stork playing against TaekLeeSsang? 2) Stork playing? 3) hmmm... hard to be hyped now...

First of all I would have to "know" the players and be impressed by their play and/or personality. There are so many players who are so insanly good at this game, at the same time as being creative and entertaining. When these players attend any tournament, big or small, I most likely will get myself hyped up.
Second, I got a weak spot for the synergy between players and within teams, which makes grudgematches(with real grudge or friendly grudge) or clanwars very appealing for me.
So, I would say, for me personally, skills, creativity, history/setting and personality are the most important things when I chose what to watch.
