Blizzard got me a belated Christmas gift!
I woke up yesterday morning, hoped on TL, and then decided to practice my PvT. I just switched to Protoss a week ago, to explore a Double Forge build. That isn't the point of this blog.
When I logged in, I didn't notice it at first. I simply hit "Find Match", and chugged along. First game I play, PvT on Steppes. I steamroll the guy. As in, I roll him in under 8 minutes with a 2 gate cyber expand. My forges weren't even done by the time he was out. He tried to float his CC into a corner... Something most diamonds don't do. But I killed it easily. My next game, I lost to a 6-pool on Meta. My bad for assuming 14 hatch - happens when i'm still sleepy. Gotta remember to play ladder only when awake .
This was not shaping up to be a good morning.
I go on tilt, and lost the next two games mainly thanks to making just terrible, overagressive decisions, such as moving ~10 Sentries in against roughly the same number of siege tanks. Before my 5th game of the morning, I force myself to take a deep breath, and let off the tension. That's when I notice my 1v1 says "One Placement Match Remaining."
What.
As my rage slowly grew, I went back through my match history, and the last 4 games were against a Bronze player, a Gold player, and two diamond players. This makes some sense in hindsight. And absolutely no sense at all. There hasn't been a Ladder Reset yet (as far as I'm aware). So... why am I unranked? unplaced even? I sent blizz a note on the bnet forums to fix it, went back to the game, and raged out - hard. I didn't scout the cannon rush cheese bullshit and lost badly to another guy in gold. So now I'm a Bronze player, ranked 19th in my division, with a 1-4 record. I want to keep playing, but I want to give blizz a chance to fix my record, and I don't want to mess it up any farther.
Merry Xmas, blue.

lol I came here thinking it was gonna be good news...man was I wrong :D Hopefully blizzard will fix it, if not, you should have some fun in Bronze

I got 2 disconnects on my placement mathces due to my poor dormatory internet conenction via a proxy... Later I lost 1 game so I got into bronze as well, but its not that hard to get to upper leagues. if you just keep winning youll get there pretty soon. I havent played 100 games yet and Im already in platinum from bronze. As soon as I have some more spare time Im sure Im gonna get into diamond too. SO if they will say they wont fix it for any reason dont get mad, just play lots.
Oh btw, in Bronze League - its a nightmare. Prepare to hold off every crazy shenanigans evar thought of by human race. They will DT rush, PF rush, mothership rush, mass bunker & tank you, they will 6pool, 7pool, 8pool, whatever, they will 1-base-broodlord you. Just a warning

Just play like 10 more games. You will be surprised how good the system is at putting you in the league you belong in. They use an algorithm which allows for your rating to change drastically if you win a lot of games in a row.

Ugh. After New Years I won't have much free time at all to play, hopefully I'll move up before then.
I guess its a question of did my MMR get reset as well

No MMR does not get reset between seasons which is why future season will only require 1 placement match.

But mine required 5 - I'm thinking I wasn't just a random test of ladder reset functionality :p

no, probably a bug.

I got placed in silver but then got into diamond with a record of something like 18-5. Promotions are really fast when you have very few games.
Sucks that your ladder was reset, but it shouldn't be long before you get back to where you were.

I don't think I would worry about being placed in bronze because it's just a bug. You should have exited SC2 until it said your proper league.
EDIT: Unless they actually reset the ladders, then we're all screwed.

Soo bro, why are you whining at all. This means your going to get a retardedly good record by the time you make it back up to your league.

Gotta work your way back to the top mate, I got placed in plat then moved to silver lol.

its the bug that has been happening since beta. Actually I think it was a large reason beta took a year longer than it was suppose to; because this magical resetting of placement matches kept happening.
|
Facebook recently posted a bug that has to do with innodb locking in mysql. Because of the amount of usage battle.net gets I wouldn't be suprised if this is a part of the problem.
|
Maybe this means the ladder reset is eminent?

u should be thankful that u got placed in bronze.
the number of fun strategies u can do is limitless

I'm switching to toss due to this. Time to learn a whole new race!
