So on Christmas day I went along with the usual festivities. I went to my cousins house enjoyed good company and good food. I also brought my laptop just to do some auctions and handle some random errands.
So I logged on with some few spare time I had to set up some auctions that I wanted to. To wow players I put on 7 full stacks of embersilk cloth. To my "delight" It sold almost instantly, I was amazed. It was probably the fastest auction house post to sell I have ever done.
So I send a message to the guy who bought em and was like "hey thanks for buying em! that was super fast" He went and said: Yeah they were really cheap it was a steal I went on and said yeah! i wanted to sell it fast, but i told him that the singles were even cheaper.
He said :Umm... what you put em as was even cheaper than singles: By this time I had realized I had put each STACK at 5 gold a piece. To put to non wow player terms of speak. Lets say you sold 7 Ipod Nanos valued at 120 dollars a piece for 5 dollars each on ACCIDENT. And there was no way to "correct it"
Seeing as this was Christmas day, I went and pleaded the guy, and I was like... woah what... i could have swore I put at 5 gold per unit instead of per stack. I continued to be astonished because basically I had lost 1000g on Christmas day. I figured the guy would be cool about it so I asked him
"Hey I really messed up, wanna help me out with the costs? I don't care if it's half what they usually cost but to be honest that was a really silly mistake I would've caught instantly If you hadn't bought it instantly.... 50g each stack ? (which is still UNDER 50% of the usual cost).
He replied: "Too bad man, people make mistakes all the time."
I again pleaded with him, I was already in a bad mood because this actually wasn't even the first time this sort of thing that happened (maybe not the AH but a miss click or something) , but people are USUALLY cool with it and help with it a little bit. However, he didn't even send a tell back.
I said: Please come on man, its Christmas)
He continues to say it's too bad and ignores my other pleas and I ended up just being in a mad mood. Here is why.
I've been playing wow for a long time and one thing I have noticed is that the population at least a good majority of who I meet, is selfish, greedy, self serving, and treats people like they are NPCs rather than real people. To be honest if the guy said sorry I really need the clotha nd it was a good deal, I would've been like, okay merry christmas, or if the guy was like cool with it or at least SOMEWHAT SYMPATHETIC, I would've been cool with it. 1000g is minuscule, but its just the way he responded and how he was uncaring. People online tend to forget that the people who they are communicating and playing with are real people. Instead they only see digitized characters on their screen and because of that, they treat them how they would treat things which have no feelings. Because I was ignored I felt pretty shitty.
I thought: This is why I hate playing online games and going on the internet, people are just like the /b/ population: ruthless, uncaring, and extremely unsympathetic.
So I continue to just try and recuperate my losses... no biggy.... So I see this guy who says: WTS Truegold transmute. I needed one at the time so I whispereded him
He says: Since its Christmas, you don't have to tip me. "Are you sure ??!" I replied Yeah its fine! "So I give him the mats and told him thanks so much" Basically what happened was he got a lucky proc and got double what I usually get and basically it would recuperate everything that I had lost from my mistake before. I thanked him and when he traded back the 2 truegold he had made for me, I tried to trade him back a 100g tip. He, refused to take the tip and said: "It's okay, hopefully this makes up for what you lost before"
...
I must admit I was pretty touched... And although I was remembering just recently how much I could hate the game and who played it, I also realized that there is always someone, who isn't what the general public is.
However silly it might seem. I was really touched by what he did. Yes sure its virtual money, and yes it was my mistake. But it just goes to show you that any kind of kindness that you can show whether it's through an online video game can go a long ways. So no matter what game you are playing, whether it'd be Starcraft 2, WoW, Aion, or anything... just remember that who you are playing with has feeling and is a person, and if you are kind to them you can affect their whole mindset and enhance not only the game they are playing, but their life! However small it may be... wouldn't it be nice to know you helped someone's day a little bit brighter????
I hope you read the whole thing! I know it was long but to me it really made me realize that there will always be hope in humanity as long as people continue to truly care about others feelings. This care should not just extend to people whom they already know, but also strangers and most especially: their enemies!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!!!

You know if you message a GM he will give you it back.. just saying i did this the other day . same thing happened.

So if I read the story right, karma exists in videogames too. Now let's see if it pays off for me for always being nice and helpfull to others
|
I sold the stacks to an actual player so he already had all the cloth coming to him...an actual player... which is why I tried to talk to him to see if he could help me out a bit but he ignored me. I sold 7 stacks which would have sold for for 950g for a measley 35g.
And I wouldn't say it was Karma... I made a really unfortunate mistake that I could have corrected but what I put was literally bought IMMEDIATELY. I have made that small mistake before but was able to take them off the AH and reput them back corrected. I don't know if that guy had something good happen to him later but I just know I was extremely grateful to him.

WoW currency is gay as fuck, i really wish everyone went with the vendor price..
|
The currency and the market is fine if you really know how to work it and can be used to everyone's advantage. If people always went with the vendor price there would be no point in putting them on the AH at all.
|
Hmm i just wonder who that guy was.... Was it the same guy on another account who felt bad afterwards. Or was it a friends of that guy who got told about the deal from before. Or can you see the deals of other players in WoW. ie. Are they public? (sry i dont play it)
Its really nice something like that happens, i also know that feeling from another MMORPG. Glad you didnt have to stay in a bad mood in the christmas time
|
Nope, it was a totally different guy since they were both online at the same time.
|
same thing happened to me maybe 4-5 years ago , i put a stack of mageweave up for 100g - i meant to put it up for 10g which was the going rate for a stack of 20 as far as i remember but i must of put two 0s in by mistake.
anyway i wasn't expecting anyone to buy it since it was 10 times what the regular rate was but some guy did.He messaged me asking for money and crap and even went on the WoW forums and made a threads about it.I was like whatever , not my problem. In the end it's just a video game , not real life , don't get so worked up about that crap.

Fairly cool of the guy doing the transmutes for you. I made a similar blunder on the AH the other day. I had previously sold a Glyph of Adrenaline Rush for 150g, so I listed another 4-5. Despite hating glyph prices myself, I'm more than willing to exploit it for crazy profits. Anyhow, I log in onto my bank toon a bit later and see that all of them sold. No idea how I didn't catch this, but I had sold them all for 1.5s. Not really a big loss since the mats cost 2-3g (and I have thousands of Northrend pigments) and they probably wouldn't have sold at the price, but I still could have easily sold them for 40-80g a piece easily enough.

Covering people that do idiotic things. Oh how great this world is.
To the OP, that's a damn good little bit of luck you just got. I remember playing WoW and I remember how easy it was to make gold, so you it really wasn't that big of a deal, losing out on 1000g, but I guess it's a good Christmas present to get from some random guy, eh?
|
Just get the AH addon, and it'll handle things for you.
|
What we need to do is remove the capitalistic bourgeoisie from WoW and institute a form of socialism.
|
Charity in an online game is almost as retarded as auctioning things off at 1/20th their actual cost.

In Wotlk i sold a noble's deck for like 50g when it was worth 1000+ and i couldn't get a refund. Silly me made auctions when i was drunk and didn't pay attention and had a heart attack when i woke up/
Now I don't play wow anymore =(.
|
The prices for everything right now are ridiculous in comparison to wotlk. Granted the game is fairly new. An epic black smithing piece in wrath cost 1000g or so to sell but now in comparison they are 10x the amount. So yeah 1000g isn't what it used to be and is fairly easy to come by now it was just the guy

I think they are a lot of people so nice and kind in WoW you just have to find em. I remember that there were some kids i really hated but it was alright cause there were also 80% players I LOVED TO PLAY WITH and had a great time and its what wow is all about.
The people who run every night ride and have T20 and the newest PvP gear are not players who make this game so special. players who makes this game so great are people who makes you lough and smile every time you spend night with em.
+ Show Spoiler +(watch Acrono Shadowstep trick. he wrote this nicer. you would love it. on Warcraftmovies.com)
