Hey guys, if you liked Tron's sound track, I hope you'll like this. I actually started work on it 2-3 weeks before I heard the OST for Tron, but oh well... Anyways, this is just a start on this piece, it hasn't been mixed at all much, but I'm really just hoping for some feedback, esp. since I'm not sure where to go from here.
P.S. There're a couple other tracks on my Soundcloud, I'm open to feedback on them as well! In general, all the sounds on that account are my soundscape/minimalist side - using as few unique patterns as I can, creating different sounds by combining them in different ways. My personal favorite is Panacea, but I'd love to hear what you think.
iGrok out.
P.P.S. If I fucked up making this somehow, I'm not really a blogger so let me know
A very minimalistic track that still keeps you entertained. During no part of the track did I feel bored and at 2:25 where the "trumpet" kicks in the track got very awesome.
Perhaps work a bit on the last part, felt that you perhaps could have more of a crescendo in some way. This is optional however, the track works just fine as it is.
Gonna check out your other songs as well in a minute
Thanks! Yeah, I plan on continuing the build up, developing into a more tech-heavy sound as it goes on. Are you saying more crescendo going into the last section would be nice?

Well, it feels like you have a solid basis to build a good crescendo upon but as I said, it's not mandatory. It would give the song more of a "punch" and make it become a bit more memorable. As with the Tron soundtrack, the song is awesome but it feels like a little like a background track.
"Strobe" by Deadmau5 is in some ways a similar song.
At 5:40 he navigates out of the minimalistic sound into more of a "club" sound while still keeping the foundation of the song intact. The song feel more like a journey, a buildup towards this moment.
BUT. This kind of moves the track in another direction than the minimalistic idea you had in the OP. I can't say what will be better, all I know is that the ending felt a little disappointing to an otherwise awesome track.
Funny... I was just listening to Strobe last night. Strobe is definitely a Journey, and Moto may become one. I know I feel this as an 'epic' - 20+ minutes. So what I have so far is just a first step. Thanks for the ideas... the hard part is going to be keeping the minimalism while making it not repetitive for 20 minutes xD
Listening to it right now. That crunchy acid-type synth that kicks-in around a minute is kinda out-of-place, but I think just because of the progression of the track, because it works later on, like midway through. The really high trumpet-synth melody sounds cheesy IMO, just because it's so basic. No rise or fall from each individual notes gives it that really generic, basic electronic sound... just really amateur. I don't mean to offend, just giving my honest input. I like the Tron vibe and think it has a ton of potential, I just think the opening is a little wonky before the beat kicks in, and that high trumpet is cheesy (the lower-toned trumpet synths work fine.)
Thanks - yeah the higher trumpet I haven't worked on yet, this is a pre-production cut. I'll give it a fuller, more realistic feel, and probably add a hint of electronica to its sound before i'm done
Definitely I really do like that Tron-y, synth-y effect to otherwise instrumental-sounding elements. Awaiting the final product! Epic electronica for the win.
