Following up on previous blog.
January 2nd, 2011 I move in to my new place in Salmon Arm. I have like 2$ in the bank, but my dad is going to help me pay first months rent money. I'll be renting out a bachelor suite from this lady named Lynda for $575 a month, which consists of a kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, closet, and cabinet for the most part. My dad is trying to rig me up with a spare mattress and TV for the place, but unfortunately no internet will be available.
I'm not sure if I'll have my own computer with internet at work, but I don't want to risk getting caught surfing TL on shift and getting fired or something lol. Maybe I'll have a neighbour stupid enough to use no encryption or WEP or something on their wireless to steal from.
This makes me a sad, sad, cyborg =[
+ Show Spoiler +I haven't even moved yet and I can still feel the TL withdrawals

awww Grobyc don't do this to me before Christmas
Hopefully you can get a rent deduction through begging and then get some low rate internet?
|
I am having financial problems right now and my internet was out for a bit.
Worst fucking days ever. I really think I am addicted to the internet, as soon as it went off I felt so bad..

If you have a laptop, you can take it to a public library which might have wireless internet.
|
Use a cellular phone if you have one, iPhone or android or any modern phone (don't follow the phone scene...) can browse/post on TL can't it? Also that seems to be a very good rate for room, although I of course do not know the area at all.

^^ what infinity said.
When I was a starving student (not really, but my senior year was actually VERY low budget), I used public libraries a fair bit (i generally preferred being off campus if I could help it).
I somehow doubt you'll be streaming PL from the library at 2am though... sad

I have a laptop (hurrah), so I may end up going to the public library for that reason. I could also try getting a low budget internet connection, but the upload probably won't be enough to stream, and I'd have to make sure I can only get a line from the ISP for 6/7 months or what have you. They don't make you sign some 1 year contract or something do they?
Internet is disabled on my phone because my phone provider kept fucking up and saying I had a bunch of internet usage bills (like 200$ monthly ~_~) when I would never touch my internet, so I told them to disable it so I could prove I wasn't racking up that bill.

Dude I grew up and went to high school there. What are you moving there for? Oops, reading the other blog now.
Let me know if you need help with something and I will see what I can do. I have friends there that are into rec league sports if you like that and don't know anyone. Can't do much about the internet though :p

My phone is pretty old, doesn't have WiFi access, just internet access through Rogers, which is blocked. I have an iTouch + Laptop for finding wlan spots though.

I'm quite the opposite when it comes to rec sports though, so I don't know if I can take you up on that offer lol. If you're coming back to visit in the next 8 months though make sure you let me know :D

Or you could learn to curl. Any sport which has standardized the "bar overlooking the ice" design is a good one There are also mixed leagues...

Its really easy nowadays to find an open connection in any residential spot for at least some sort of internet. Gonna miss your BW, for sure.

So Canadian to suggest curling... Yo, hook yourself up through the salvation army. You could probably buy a whole room of furniture for $100 usd. If Canada even has a salvation army... ... see them everywhere at Christmas... ... ... ... everywhere.

I got a letter in the mail today from rogers offering internet service in a little usb stick. Could look into that, I doubt you'd have to sign a year long contract.

I have no money for them right now, but I think my dad mentioned picking up some stuff for me from one. I'm not expecting him to do such a thing, but if he doesn't I won't mind being furniture-less too long. After a month or two I should be bringing in some money of my own to buy some

Never thought of it until now though, I'll have to take a look at the rates for it.
I know my dad knows I'm not trying to do this, but I feel like I'm taking advantage of him with him paying for my first months rent, especially since I was too broke to even buy him a birthday present during his birthday a few months ago. Christmas coming up now too and I still have nothing for him. I definitely want to pay him back for all of this, but I have a feeling he's going to be modest about it and not accept anything. He has his debts of his own, so I feel even worse :S. If he doesn't accept it directly then I'm going to transfer money to my step-mom and get her to give it to him

hang in there buddy, I hope Santa gives you some fast internets for Christmas <3

i bet your TL withdrawal would be temporary, you cannot resist TL for 8 months. LOL
i tried that too, esp. when bisu was in a slump this year, but i just can't resist. and i just moved here in canada (used to be in asia) and i thought i will not be able to log-in in TL and watch bw/gsl here because of the timing difference but TL and SC are simply irresistible.
if you're thinking about financial problem, i'm sure it's going to be temporary. when you start working as a co-op student, your salary would start to kick in and i'm sure by then you can afford internet connection. just like the others said, hang in there.
i'm gonna miss your streams... good luck on your co-op.
