So I finally got my own copy of SC2 on my battle.net account, and obviously I start at the bottom and have to work my way back up the ladder.
I forgot to choose P on my first match and lost a ZvZ because apparently 8pool is countered by 6pool on Steppes of War. Anyways I 4-1 into Plat and start tearing it up.
Previously, I was 2100 diamond on my other played account, so (no offense) Platinum players aren't much a challenge.
I quickly started facing higher and higher rated players, and am now constantly fighting 'Favored' opponents who are upwards of 2100 Diamond.
I can't help but feel bad (not really) but also laugh at their misfortune for getting placed against me. Not like I'm good by any stretch, just a mid-level Diamond player who can hold my own. The problem is for my enemy, who is losing 22-23 points per game.
I seriously just cannon rushed a favored opponent on Jungle Basin. 2200 rated Protoss, not 'pro' enough and lost 22 points. Ouch!
This system is seriously flawed. You should be able to input a previous account or something, somewhere along the way, so that when you face people of your own skill level (determined on the other account), they don't get harvested for points.
Anwyays I'm laughing probably a lot more than I should when these guys fall prey to the merciless cheese I've been doing while I grind back up. Ladder ahoy!

The points they win/lose are dependent on your mmr, not your actual rating
Same for the points you get from them

When I beat 2k+ diamonds on my 600~ plat NA account and get +22s, they don't lose the same amount.
As said, their loss is mmr based - so -10/11 or so seems general, as your mmr is roughly evenly matched.

Congratulations for only being able to win via cheese and feeling good about it?

Cannon rushes are hit or miss.
They sometimes work against bronze players and they sometimes work against diamond players. I don't really think you need to be 2100 diamond level to pull off a successful cheese; it's based on it NOT getting scouted, so there's an element of luck.
But... congratulations on being super cool.

Id imagine how pissed the 2200 diamonds would be to be losing to a plat.

I dont see how anything you describe shows the system as being flawed.
|
Even if you win 22/23 points. Doesn't mean they lose by the same amount. So I don't think they will be THAT sad.
|
brag post. this is nothing special. all the latecomers experience this "opponent heavily favored" stuff and they don't lose 22. 10/14 sounds more likely
|
Brag post? It's a blog. I can write what I want ^^
Didn't know about the points though. I thought something might be up when I mentioned to the guy that he was favored he said "I thought we were even." If these guys aren't losing 22/23 per game then my complaint is not valid!
Either way :D

"Favored," as well as point calculations, compares your points to their MMR. You're seeing them as favored because you're still in Platinum, and comparing Platinum points to Diamond MMR is a mismatch. So while you see them as favored and pick up 20+ points for winning, they're comparing Diamond points to your Diamond MMR and seeing "Even Match" and losing ~10 points when you beat them. You'll see your opponents rapidly stop being favored once you get promoted to Diamond.

You of course mean you should just use one account if you want the system to stay accurate right?

His bonus pool is at least very skilled.

It's a blog but it makes you look very ignorant when you make criticisms of a system you don't even understand. They don't lose the same amount of points you win and the favor system can have both screens displaying the same thing.

damn yarko you're such a good player and everybody should admire your insane platinum crushing skills can i pay you 40$ an hour to teach me how to cheese?
