ICCup.. Where D- players play with 262 apm and dead on execution of build orders.

Shit like this is why companies have the gall to nickel and dime us for shit that used to be free.

qft!
I felt like my skills have completly disappeared few months ago when I tried iccup and got demolished by "D" level players who reached C- - B in 1-2 weeks. Thanks to blizzard's greediness there's less smurfing in the ladder.

And thus, Blizzard's game concept has won.

I feel like it's the lesser of two evils. Sure it causes problems like this, but I don't see how mass smurfing wouldn't be horrible for the ladders. If B.net and ICCup are any indication, there are a lot of people who enjoy getting easy wins against worse players. Thanks to the single account system, the people willing to destroy their own rank for easy games against newer players are few and far between. The vast vast majority of games at bronze through platinum are played against legit bronze through platinum players. Silver players trying to get better who keep running into Diamond-skilled opponents who wipe the floor with them is NOT good for the growth of the game.
For me, this is one of the reasons I've remained random. I only have a few hours a day to play at best, and with medical school coming up I expect that number to go down; if I picked a race I could certainly get better much faster, but I'd also be missing out on 2/3rds of the game. I guess I'd rather be a medium diamond with all three races and get to enjoy all the matchups than be a higher diamond with one and be stuck with just a few.
That certainly doesn't solve problems for people like the OP through, who want to be good with one but still be able to enjoy the others at a lower level.

It's a gay side effect that if you buy multiple copies Blizzard is the one who is actually winning. However we don't really have a say since it's your money.
The ideal solution would be Blizzard implementing a system where you have a different ladder account for each race.
My 2's partner wants to try out Zerg really badly [ terran player ] but since he's diamond terran he gets put up against those people while trying out zerg for the very first time.

I like seeing my apm after games, and thus I look at every single game of mine at bwchart after playing. And when I saw the guy's 262 apm against my 100 (my zerg apm is 100ish and more than my Terran apm and Protoss apm combined), I just used bad language for iccup even though how much I like their work. I think buying an account should have its own cost and conditions. But definitely should not be free.

I'm playing my off-race right now in diamond, and getting killed most of the time so i've definitely thought about it.
but for now i just don't have the budget for another copy since i'm studying.

How many ladder points do you have? Unless we're talking 2000+ then they're not really hard earned. In fact I wish I was in bronze league so I can get the cool portraits and then play for real.
|
I strongly considered getting a 2nd account but I didn't want to pay $50 again, only to have it become useless when Heart of the Swarm comes out because I'd have to buy 2 expansions etc.
They are missing out on some decent money if they charged $10-20 for a new ladder account that is tied to your bnet account, so you can only have one logged in at a time

Ladder points are meaningless, unless you're top 200 or something paying money for another account just seems stupid.

I inferred the problem as one where you can't get challenging but winnable ladder games in all nine matchups unless all your races are the same skill level. It's not caring about ladder points, it's the need to lose a bunch of games to get where your offraces are, and then re-grind those points in one-sided games on your main so you can get challenged in your best race again.

I just play with a friend account that doesn't give a shit about multiplayer :O
But yeah I feel you somewhat but this feels too much playing in blizzard's way for me.
|
I bought two when it came out. Was considering having one as a smurfing account or giving it as a gift, then watched a stream and the streamer ran out of guest account time, since I wanted to continue watching the stream I gave the key away.
That is an even bigger waste than a smurf account from a personal point of view. ^^

Has anyone else contemplated doing the same?

3v3 team with all players of the same name.

You are exactly right. This is the only way I can have a fun and fair challenge with both off-races and on my main.
