Im just a D+ toss noobie from sc1. 2k diamond easy (I don't even use colossus)
Really it just comes down to mechanics for most games, who controls better, who macros better.
People get wayyyy to tied up in "build orders" and "practicing"
I just play the game and it works for me. ezpz

I haven't played ladder in like 7 weeks but I still play a gmae or two each week with low-mid diamonds and maintain that fact. I prefer watching and talking about starcraft, along with all pro-games, that doesn't mean you can lose the aspect of the game that is small execution and a proper build order.

I agree with both of you. 
Shouldn't really compare, but if you were to compare, anything below diamond is d-/e. His point is that surely anyone can get out of plat/gold if they want to, but in actuality some people just don't have the competitive drive to care enough. Sure they COULD if they were forced to, but a lot of people don't play games like that.
There, now you've got a sort of decent player comparing.

I think the point he's trying to make is that there is no reason you shouldn't be able to pass platinum league if you really want to because the only thing holding you back is basic mechanics. It's not even strategy at that point, it's just simple macro. Did you playbroodwar? Because you totally can correlate starcraft BW and starcraft 2.
