Well, I got knocked out on the 1st round 1-2 LOL! Nerves really do play a factor. I wasn't nervous about losing the game but I didn't feel comfortable playing in a new environment (possibly the shittiest chair I've played on).
1st game: didn't even realize he was going for PDD/marine/tank/banshee push. I went 3 gate robo colossus into expand to be safe for game 1 to see how good he was and I barely defended it and eventually counter attacked and won. Funny thing is I've been asking for counters to this all over the place and terrans wouldn't tell me or give me bullshit answers like phoenix + immortal + zealot sentries. This terran that beat me on ladder 2 days ago, when I asked him how you beat that shit, told me 'keep trying, it'll eventually come to you.'
So in game 1 it just so happened that I had a handful of gateway units + 1 immortal + 2 colossi so the only option I had was to send the immortal to tank the tankshots and run in with the rest. And it worked lol!
game 2, we were both on 2 bases on close positions metalopolis and he pushed like 1-2 minute after his expansion was up, which caught me off guard. But the killer was that I didn't hotkey my army -0- so I had 4 sentries with nearly full energy just die before they cast good forcefields
game 3, fuck scrap stration. I hate this map and the only reason I played it on ladder was to practice for the GSL. so what the hell, I 4 gated, it failed and he did the same push as game 1 but I didn't have the infrastructure to fend it off this time even tho I got both HT upgrades at the last minute, not enough gas to match his reinforcements
Well, how I failed is not important, I figured my chances of making the Ro64 was like 5% at best.
I got to meet some TL people for the first time + saw progamers up close.
I met Artosis, IdrA, InControl and Jinro. They were all really friendly and funny (esp incontrol <3). Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to talk to them all that much since I had friends playing on the other side and I had to register/play my matches at 1 pm too.
Artosis was kind of busy recording the event on camera so I can't say much about him but I'll try to tune into the English commentary next time (I asked him how you watch the English commentary for the GSL from Korea and I think he thought I was an idiot for asking that haha).
I wanted to shake Jinro's hand but he was sick t.t I hope you get better jinro, and congrats for making it this time! Baller.
Incontrol, last I checked you were in the top 4 (2 more matches to make Ro64) but seems like you lost in the final match Better luck next time if you're planning to stay in Korea for a while.
Idra was really nice in person. I had neither good nor bad feelings for his BM online but he's a pleasant guy to talk to. Incontrol and Idra were watching haypro play from behind and I enjoyed their pseudo commentary :D Even though I couldn't really watch haypro's game since his head was in the way + I didn't have my glasses.
Other people I saw at the event:
ITR, ensnare, hyperdub, ogstop (he actually sat next to me for the qualifers), and like a dozen others I can't remember for some reason.
That's me to the left of oGsTOP -.-;;
Anyway, I'm on the pay per minute-based computer at the bus terminal and I have exactly 143 seconds left + my bus leaves in 5 minutes.
All I have to say is that the GSL qualifers were awesome even though I failed hard.
