So since Liquibet has gone up, I've just kept little notes of the games I watch to help me remember players and specific matches. Since I use about four computers regularly, I decided I might as well just post them up here so 1)I could have easy access wherever and 2)maybe other people would find them useful also.
These are largely stream of consiousness and unedited, just a warning.
Also, of course, SPOILER ALERT!
Phoenix_Werra Z v Sang Ho T (TSL_Babybyebye)
Game 1: Baby goes Nexus before gate, which is completely crazy, against an early expanding zerg. Then goes mass Phoenix to end it against roach/ling
Game 2: BabyByebye goes forge expand, but defends it very poorly Phoenix goes for a baneling bust, which kind of awkwardly works but doesn't get him anywhere. Babybyebye builds FIVE turrets but still lets lings in, but finally builds up a decent army, since it's been 2base against 2base this whole time.
To be honest, I loved Sang Ho in the first game, but he played fairly poorly in the second.
---------------------------------
TSL_Rain T v oGsEnsnare T
Game 1:
Solid and convicing win by Ensnare
Game 2:
Ensnare really just cloak Banshee harasses forever, costing Rain a billion scans. Some good marine tank micro does the rest.
------------------------------
St_Ace P vs KyrixZenith Z
Game 1:
Kyrix early expands on Steppes vs Protoss Act makes two canons for not much reason After losing his army many times against Ace's FF and cannons Kyrix expands to his OPPONENT'S gold!
Game 2:
Kyrix puts on alot of pressure and then expands over the entire map. Almost even over-expands. Also leads to some pretty lack-luster macro Also, a bazillion collosusses fall unecessarily to corrupter micro
Game 3:
Ace does an embarrassingly bad, sub-optimal cannon rush that
completely fails. Kyrix almost kills on the counterattack, but can't. Then just powers and expands. Takes forever to finish it though.
Kyrix really likes hyper expanding, taking 5-2 bases both games. Neither player was super good, and neither felt better than the other.
------------------------------
HopeTorture T vs Pippijung P
Game 1 Jungle Basin
Fairly well played on both sides. Pippi was just a little too slow and made just the wrong choices a couple times, and that cost him the game. Also, macro and micro started slipping when things got very hectic
Hope didn't seem to play the map terribly well.
Game 2 Lost Temple
Pippi 4gates and attacks. It's fended off. Then just a straight up macro war which torture wins pretty soundly after some solid harass. Not sure if he's looking like a Finalist though
------------------------------
CheckPrime Z vs sanZenith P
Game 1
Zenith 3 cannon FE on Delta, Check Roach all ins FTW sanZenith played terribly
Game 2
Forge FE on Scrap for San. Check Roaches again...
Hard to say anything about Check, since his opponent played terribly. He never expanded though, which fites in with what they said about macro management on Check's part
------------------
Leenock Z vs Suhoshin Z
Game 1 Both go ling/Bane Leenock's bane micro is better.
And again
-----------------
oGsNaDa T vs ParkJongHyuk T
Game 1: Park does pretty well, killing off two cloak banshees for almost nothing, but Nada marine tank pushes in
Game 2
NaDa makes some pretty silly decisions, but pulls it out. NaDa's macro wins it. Park played very well though
NaDa loves cloak banshees.
---------------------
oGsZenio Z v IMmvp T
Game 1 Basin
Zenio goes for some strong muta harrass and expand mpv just attacks, out micros, and guts the main with just enough units
Game 2 Metal
Zenio switches to Broodlords before mvp has vikings out zenio uses map control to take 6 bases, and takes out all but 2
mpv hangs on for quite a while though
Game 3 Lost Temple Close Air Positions
Zenio goes for crazy mass drop, and does a lot of damage throught the game, often doubling mvps supply
Zenio overcommits to drop harass a bit, allows mvp to get back in a bit, but zenio goes mass muta and takes it
Both players played very well. Zenio made a few odd decisions, but macro-ed great and mvp showed that he might be a little unfamilar with the game
-------------------
Loner T vs Terious Z
Game 1 Scrap
Both players do serious damage to the other's econ Loner's great macro keeps him ahead though Despite seemingly out many times, and one burrowed baneling killing 20 marines, he somehow stays ahead and wins
Game 2 Caverns
Loner just seems really indecisive and dances back and forth with his army, allowing himself to be counterattacked without doing damage. Terious played well, mostly in taking advantage of Loner's mistakes.
Game 3 Temple
Loner goes 4 rax without tech, which gets scouted by a ling. First attack gets repelled, but then tanks up and kills the natural, which was the lair. That's pretty much game. Terious especially sloppy with mutas
------------------------
NesTea (ZergBong) z v oGsMC (Iron) oGsMC
Game 1 Scrap
3 gate into DTs, but Nestea got an overseer, seemingly without scouting it, so good intuition, holds a gate push very nicely. NesTea went pure roach and ran over MC, despite nice FFs
Game 2 Temple, cross position
Iron goes 3 gate Robo, NesTea pools, expand Iron makes a warp prism, but decides to kill some Overlords before harassing, letting Nestea know it's coming. Drops the natural ledge, but it's easily repelled due partially
to Iron's poor micro. Then attacks, gets repelled. NesTea expands, so does Iron. NesTea goes muta, and MC doesn't have enough anti air D.
NesTea seems to have a really good understanding
of ZvP, and this was a really solid win.
-----------------------------
oGsTheWind Z vs MakaPrime T
Game 1 Plateau cross positions
Maka gets a fairly large army just caught in the middle of the map TheWind spots it, makes a few zerglings and kills it. Zerg uses this to expand, but to some questionable places. TheWind starts going mass muta, it's super effective against Terran's primarily marine tank army. The armies neutralize, but this puts Zerg up 5v2 bases. Then broodlords at Maka's new 3rd, but all 7 die sillyly to a few vikings, leaving ton of undefendedtanks. The Wind from there just broodlords and ultralisk/zerglings to victory. TheWind and Maka both played well, but I feel TheWind should have put
it away earlier and taken advantage from Maka's mistakes.
Game 2 Caverns
Maka MakaRaxes and brings two scvs, but it's quickly scouted and repelled. Then flies the early rax to the base, it's destoyed, but then he makes another barracks. ling/roach pressure kills half of Maka's army, and delays the expansion for quite a while. Maka goes Tank/Marine and Wind Muta/Bane/Ling again. TheWind kills his army right at Maka takes the gold. Both players micro suboptimally, maka clumping his marines, and TheWind losing his mutas. TheWind goes Broodlords... and loses them all again, although he can afford to. TheWind's huge 5/3 base advantage lets him keep suiciding units until he wins
TheWind's strategy was impeccable here. He did exactly what he needed to do, trade armies while expanding. However, TheWind's micro seemed pretty lacking, and I felt like he should have been able to win more easily with the advantages he gained. However, it could have just been due to the attention-stress of having five mining bases as Zerg. Maka played pretty well overall, and hung in the game much longer than I thought he could both times. It seemed like he just didn't have a good answer for mass muta harass and expand.
---------------------------------
FakeBoxer T vs Fruit Dealer Z
Game 1 Metal, close positions
FakeBoxer MakaRaxes, FruitDealer FEs
Boxer comes in with 2 marine and two scvs, but no bunker, does a lot of damage Boker expands, but ling speed finishes, and Dealer counter attacks, and loses all of his lings partially due to Boxer's solid micro. Dealer loses expo, ggs.
Game 2 Basin
Both expand pretty fast. Dealer gets an in-base third hatch, but get's dropped by 16 marines. Having only zerglings, it does massive damage (kind of). Boxer makes a billion barracks with reactors, pushes out with stim, but it's defended with dropped banes. It's not enough, though. Boxer just has way too many marines and 10-15 medivacs, and Fruit just can't do damage fast enough with just lings and roaches.
Huge upset, but Boxer really seriously just outclassed dealer with constant pressure and solid, aggressive builds. Hard to say, though, how he might fair against someone as aggressive as he himself is. Also, I feel like if Dealer has just a few spine crawlers, or Baneling speed or had seen the attack coming and could ling up, he could have held it pretty well.
--------------
oGsInCa P vs TankboyPrime T
Game 1: Delta, Cross Position
Tankboy Makaraxes and bunkers in Inca's base, fended off easily. Goes DTs, it gets scanned, so cancels, expands, and super macros, all the while faking DT pressure. Macros up to 100-60. Then some ubergodly FFs take out all of Tankboy's army.
Game 2: Scrap
Protoss goes 2 gate robo void ray expand. Terran goes Marine Marauder Banshee Raven. Loses a banshee for nothing, and built bunkers for nothing. Also, wiggling voidrays. InCa gets EIGHT voidrays, and rolls Tankboy's army. It seemed like Tankboy sacked a lot of econ to get a bunch of early units, but then neither attacked nor expanded.
Easy mode for InCa.
-------------------
NexGenius P vs Gilja (Sync) T
Game 1: Sands
Gilja kills his own rocks, and goes straight to Genius's rocks, breaks them down and is deflected pretty easily. Some fancy FF micro picks off a bunch of units ofr Gilja. Neither expand, and Genius techs up to Colossus, attacks and wins.
Game 2
Caverns
Four marauders gets up the ramp after Gilja expands, but get killed off. Genius attacks on his second immortal. Some FFs cut the rest of his army in half, then just attacks for the kill.
NexGenius was just better and smarter.
-------------------------
SlayerSBoxeR T v CoreJJang P
Game 1: Steppes
Boxer cancels a tech lab on the barracks, goes reactor. Then hides a starport Cloak banshee harass into expand by both players. Boxer Marine tank banshee + 1 raven attacks, wins
Game 2: Scrap
Boxer Hide's a techlabbed Starport on the island. Then gets techlab on his Factory and an armory. Protoss goes Phoenix after scouting only the armory. No detection for the delayed cloaked banshee, so just gg.
Boxer just smashed Core.
