Yeah, it really sucks. I have DSL and I share it with two other guys. If one person is playing Starcraft, that is generally okay.
However, if any body is watching a video, or two people are playing starcraft... then we start running in to issues.
I can't even watch two different porns at the same time! Do you know what it's like to try to pleasure yourself with just ONE video!?
I can't even watch Day9s stream.
I wish I could just pay more and get real internet, but I live in a room in a house, and the persnickety people who own it are unwilling to switch off of their shitty verizon dsl+phone plan.
What can I do to resolve this situation on my own? Is there a good satellite internet I can buy? What are my options...

Same here, my bandwidth is ok (1.5M), my ping is atrocious.
The worst is there's only one internet company here in Shanghai, so you can't even threat them to switch to another ISP when it doesn't work T_T
I can play iccup when my wife doesn't watch movies on streaming, otherwise I got a huge lag (unplayable). At least my wife saves me the troubles with dual porn movies...

You can look at your wife and then have one porn open at the same time too. That's almost as good.

If the landlord doesn't want you having good internet then you won't have it. I'm lucky my landlord let me have FIOS installed... he was a bit annoyed though that they had to put a separate box on the outside of his house.
Didn't want to piggyback on his wireless for a variety of reasons... would have sucked if he didn't want to let me do anything lol.

My internet won't be able to do dual streaming IMO, one time i watch SC streams and my wife watching K-drama streams, and it start to stutters :p

After dinner hours at my university the connection is consistently at 10 kb/s.
It does not get better until around 2am where games finally become playable.
But the limited hours they serve food and the times I have classes make it impossible to adopt a new sleep schedule.
that is why i quit sc2 for the time being.

oh please. i share a (very fast) connection with an entire apartment building. on good days, it's slow, and is impossible to use during peak times. I can't play starcraft in any capacity, and can only watch streams at like 3am, after everyone else has gone to sleep.
