so i was having this talk today with some guy in my class and i asked him "do you think we have a pop quiz today in class?" to which he responded "i dont know man, probably". see the entire point was that there was no way he could possibly know if we were going to have a pop quiz because, by definition, a pop quiz is unannounced. ah meatheads
this other time some douche asked me if i wanted some pot. i said "sure, i could use some pots to keep my flowers in". he just looked at me like i was an alien and this expression on his face like "dude wtf is ur problem man". ah potheads
it seems like kids and teenagers are being taught to think that being ignorant, racist, homophobic, lazy, and having no backbone or sense of humor is "cool". seems like too many people in society just have no depth at all, they just do what they're told to do in order to conform or "fit in".
i also find stupid people have a tendency to state the obvious, and the worst part is they think they sound so intelligent. that and people who say stuff like "b!tch make me a sandwich" or stereotype people too easily without getting to know them at all. Then there's people who think that because you criticize something or someone you're immediately jealous of that person or something that they have.
It's also similar to like how it's ok for celebrities or whoever to have their personal rights taken away and almost no personal space bcuz of the fact that they're supposed to entertain "us" 24/7. this is all supposedly justifiable because they get paid millions of dollars, right? like if was a multimillionaire, having a one million more won't make a difference, happiness is the most important thing you know.
I'm in the same boat as you. I personally despise those who conform to ignorant/shitty memes/cliques/stereotypes in an effort to feel like they matter. It'd be nice if they realized that positive attention (i.e. not the grotesque sort that goes along with sickening crimes) is only garnered with actions that benefit others. It doesn't help that these people also tend to be fucking stupid.
Unfortunately, short of absolute authoritarianism or eugenics, these people aren't leaving any time soon.
You sound pretty damn awkward, dude. That is, if you actually did these things, which I doubt. Then again, if you've made it up then you are fairly awkward too.
Also, you lack perception or organizational info-sharing skills if you can't detect a pop quiz coming. Look into the eyes of the kids leaving the classroom as you come in if you don't have organized cheating set up. Tells a thousand words or more. I can SMELL a pop quiz coming.
"sure, i could use some pots to keep my flowers in"
is a horrendous joke.
Yeah.
If you're asking people trick questions just to make them feel stupid and feel better about yourself then you're not exactly a sterling example of human reason and self-actualization here.

And OP, take a look in the mirror. "Meatheads" try and do well in school too, they just enjoy sports. There's nothing wrong with that. "Potheads" (can) try and do well in school too, they just enjoy Mary Jane. You can try and do well in school too, you just enjoy being a dick to people who are asking honest questions.
Just say "I don't know" to the 'Meathead,' and "No" to the 'Pothead'. Bad manners in real life gives people more reason not to talk to you or be nice back.

I know how that one goes. Whatever your network is unable to accomplish you should always try your best to do yourself. I actually had to study math in my senior year of highschool because I was in a class full of females unwilling to do less and get more.
this other time some douche asked me if i wanted some pot. i said "sure, i could use some pots to keep my flowers in". he just looked at me like i was an alien and this expression on his face like "dude wtf is ur problem man". ah potheads
it seems like kids and teenagers are being taught to think that being ignorant, racist, homophobic, lazy, and having no backbone or sense of humor is "cool"
i also find stupid people ... stereotype people too easily without getting to know them at all. Then there's people who think that because you criticize something or someone you're immediately jealous of that person or something that they have.
ah hippocrites.
You sound like you are unhappy with who you are as a person, so you attack other people who are happy with who they are as a person.
I mean you asked the guy a question about whether you are having a pop quiz today. Ever think that guy was thinking "Why is this moron asking me if i know whether we are having a pop quiz? I aint a psychic"
Get off your "Look at me I'm so mature, so smart and better than you" pedestal. Honestly? What type of self proclaimed king of the world or genius do you consider yourself?
You are more of a degenerate than both the people you described in your OP. You mention society, I'm sure society suffers more because of judgemental people who have a superiority complex like yourself, who cant just let other peoples lifestyle choices be.
so, today this guy asked me "do you think we have a pop quiz today in class?" even though there is no way I could possibly know since a pop quiz, by definition, is unannounced. Why would he ask me that? ah meatheads
Have you ever bought music? If yes, congratulations, you've just indirectly bought pot. There's absolutely no need to be a stuck-up asshole about other people's lifestyle choices. I could understand you being pissed if someone was rude to you for politely declining an offer to smoke, but being a dick to them about it and then saying that they're superficial and ignorant is obnoxious as fuck
So some guy offers you something amazing and you call him a douche, you then proceed with a terrible joke (almost as bad as your "pop quiz" one you find so amusing), and act superior to him by shrugging him off and saying "ah potheads".
You then go on to criticize humor like you understand it, which you don't... at all.
Thoughts?
I agree with Travis, but I'm going to add you're unfunny. An arrogant unfunny person is the worst.
I won't go as far as others have gone in their responses. But you definitely come off as an arrogant prick.
But listen. I used to think the same exact way as you did. Then I realized that I was just miserable with myself and was jealous of people who were able to so naturally blend in with society despite the fact that it wasn't the most unique and respectable way. Just respect their way of living life and how they carry themselves, even if it irritates you. One day you'll do a self-examination of yourself are realized you're no better than these people.
Over half the blog is irrelivant to the title and topic introduced in the beggining. Not saying it should be an English masterpiece, but this blog sounds like a stoner rambling to me.
You should worry less about other people and try to concentrate more on how you act.. .. your jokes are unfunny and awkward.. pot to plant flowers? Really???

I read that joke and thought

then I read 'potheads' response and realized why im a pot head myself.
Im also in a top 15 university honor's college and play tennis for my school. Generalization much?

Youchies dude. That guy isn't a meathead for answering your question in a totally acceptable way. You're the weirdy odd ball for asking a question just to prove to yourself that your subject is a meathead. The guy's not an idiot for offering you weed. It's no different from someone offering you a beer. Except no one buys awkward-stuck-up-judgmental-hypocrite-faces beer.
rofl at the OP making the worst joke he could have in the situation and then jumping into a diatribe about how people don't have a sense of humour.
The first guy said nothing that would make him a "meathead" and the OP somehow, somehow jumps from meatheads and potheads to equating them with ignorance, racism, homophobia, and laziness. What a fucking douche.
according to you, technically if a professor states in the beginning of the semester that there will be pop quizzes throughout the semester, then they're not really pop quizzes are they? your question was stupid from the beginning
i also find stupid people have a tendency to state the obvious, and the worst part is they think they sound so intelligent. that and people who say stuff like "b!tch make me a sandwich" or stereotype people too easily without getting to know them at all. you have just contradicted yourself... most of what you say is pretty Obvious and I think you Believe that you are much more intelligent person than those meatheads and potheads. Humbleness and Tolerance is something much more smarter than critique.
So many people talk crap about conformity and conformists, but it's so ironic because those people actually go out of their way to be noncomformists, a la OP. So basically, they are just conforming to the opposite of what everyone else is. You shouldn't really care at all about conformity. I personally don't try and conform to everything but I don't see anything wrong with people who do and I don't mind trying out stuff my friends recommend, like music or whatever. It's natural. It's part of the human psyche. Humans weren't intended to live in isolation, and conformity is a tool for human development . There is obviously a reason why things become popular and mainstream.
Also, have you really never known you were going to have a pop quiz ahead of time. Most of the times, people find out about pop quizzes from students in earlier classes, and people ask each other whether or not there will be a pop quiz all the time. It's a perfectly acceptable question.
One more thing: good job championing nondiscrimination and then discriminating on intelligence and conformity. IQ is something people our born with, kind of like race you know.
On October 21 2010 08:05 Coagulation wrote: You should worry less about other people and try to concentrate more on how you act.. .. your jokes are unfunny and awkward.. pot to plant flowers? Really???
I agree, if everyone would focus less on what everyone else is doing, then comparing themselves to it saying "Oh, I'm better lets move on", and more on self improvement then the world would be a much better place.
Who cares how other people act, you should be concerned with how you act, if you don't smoke weed and you don't want to then great for you- but don't criticize people who do, because who cares what they do, it's their decision.
i just found a blog from this guy http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=141141 ignoring the suicide part, he basically says he's a loner and also admits to failing AP english i guess his jokes could be a reason for his loneliness

Why does this make him a meathead? You're saying a pop quiz is unannounced. He responded that he didn't know. I'm still confused as to what makes him a meathead. Perhaps I'm one since I can't figure it out.

You are deluding yourself. Your egotistical thoughts about others and society only serves to try and compensate for whatever insecurities you have, which is expected from how you frame yourself in that linked blog post.
The sooner you acquire the discipline to not only acknowledge your own faults but also act in improving yourself, the better. According to yourself, you have obvious health problems. You also have obvious emotional problems if you were contemplating suicide.

what really cracks me up is asking "do you think we have a pop quiz today?" (emphasis mine) is a question that can easily be answered logically, not violating the definition of the pop quiz.. say based on history, you expect the professor to give a quiz on the 4th lecture, so you think he will give a pop quiz today. of course you won't know but you didn't ask him whether he knew, you asked him whether he thought.
learn2enligsh also, learn manners it wouldn't hurt, especially since you're not nearly as smart as you believe yourself to be =(
OP you seem like a bigger douche bag. Your little pot joke wasn't funny. And you're a douche for asking someone if their is a pop quiz in the first place, I would have said the same thing as him, not because if I knew their was a pop quiz or not, because that is just how I talk. Your sense of humor is awful too.

Come on man your making big generalisation over nothing.
I don't know if youre the kind of guy that just keep making theories about other people behavior out of nowhere, like always analysing and such; but please, if you do, stop, this is really antisocial and just wrong from the philosophy/antropology point of view.
You are right about not giving credit to everything society dictates, but you are wrong if what you told us are good examples of it. There are a lot of better cases about socienty trends that you could think of which are a plague to our mind and soul; other than a guy who don't laugh at a crappy joke and your friend stating something obvious (well you asked after all, maybe you would have liked that he told you : "Come on man this is a pop quiz, how the fuck should I know, are you stupid to ask me such a question ?").

Are you serious? Kid was just asking if OP wants some weed. Why the fuck are you idiots so hateful? If you just say "no" they won't bother you.
And the first guy in OP, hurr durr good job you got someone to tell you that they don't know if there is a pop quiz. Grow the fuck up, you're just as immature as them and potentially moreso for judging them based on a single conversation that lasted 10 seconds. Hateful ass high-horse kids.
So I read this blog today and this NERD was talking about how much he hates people because he asked them a question and they didn't answer to his subjective criteria, damn i hate people who conform to the anti-conformist cliche and try to sound smart by making fun of others.

People are too artificial.
Society is too superficial.
Thoughts?
BLAH. Alright, so you you say that society gives celebrities no personal space and takes their rights away(i'm assuming right to privacy is what your referring to) on the foundation that they are supposed to entertain us. Using Tiger Woods as an example, you could say that people have invaded his personal space, criticized him and expected some moral standard from him after cheating on his wife. The reason that this happened to him though isn't due to some sick form of entertainment rather, these actions stem from the understanding that celebrities, such as Tiger Woods are role models. They are expected to provide model like behavior because so many others idolize them. THerefore when they violate some moral or ethical rule its a big deal, worthy of the news. There are a bunch of exceptions of course, but thats how I see it generally.
Also, you talk about how racism is now comedic to many kids now a days. I obviously see why its offensive and wrong, but I think I should explain why many people find it comedic to act in offensive ways since you seem to be missing it. For the most part, comedy is when you combine the absurd with reality. Many kids, at least where i'm growing up have been taught that things such as racism and sexism are VERY VERY wrong. SUPER WRONG. So wrong that it would be absurd to say in any offensive way(see where i'm goin?). From my perspective, and many others it is hilarious that someone actually says something offensive in a hurtful way because such a ridiculous statement is being combined with reality resulting in comedy....Thats how it is for the people I know atleast
