Hey;
Well it's been a few months since StarCraft 2 came out and although it doesn't need the best equipment out there; it's safe to say that many of us got new gaming gear anyway to enjoy our experience.
I've never been one to get into the hype about cool headsets or keyboards, mice, etc but I spent a pretty penny on that stuff the last few weeks.
Now... I forgot that sometimes my cousins, or girlfriend or friends come over and like to use the computer sometimes..
Sigh...
Traces of food in or around the keyboard... Bumping my Razer Mamba mice against the desk... Tossing my headset aside..
AHHHHH!!!!!! =(
Please stop~~~~~
*I just dont think they get the value or importance of the gaming gear that many of us invest in. And when I explain it to them.. they giggle...

Yeah I refuse to let most people use my stuff. Controllers and stuff even feel different after they got their grubby hands on 'em :<

yes YES GOD I hate that so much
|
ahaha yeah I get that sometimes but I got used to it as long as no ones eating while playing
|
I left my Razer DeathAdder in a Lan once. I cried when I got home T_T
|
I hate it when other people have greasy hands and we are sharing controllers or gear. My hands usually stay dry when I play and the feel of greasiness on any controller really messes with my control. Plus it's gross.
|
It scares the absolute living shit out of me too.

i hate it when anybody else uses my mouse or keyboard, they feel slippery afterwards and i gotta clean them.
another "classic": the first thing they do when sitting down in front of my laptop is to adjust the monitor´s angle by grabbing into the display with their dirty fingers.
|
Let my friend borrow a game, gives it back to me after a year, gets scratched to oblivion. Luckily it was just a old game which I didnt care for but equipment is a whole other thing... I annoy them to death, telling them to clean the controller and whatever else.
I dont want to get my controllers back and its all shimmering with oily finger prints and whatnot from sweaty hands. Come to think of it seems like a very minor case of OCD? Hahah!

Also when people eat next to the monitor and keyboard, its nasty...

since my gear isn't new and thus dirty anyways, i don't mind ppl using my gear. I just mind them using my software because i have everything in a pretty hardcore configuration. like, browser is mouse gesture controlled, i don't use quick launch, desktop items or the start menu for that matter.. I actually have firefox installed just because i very seldomly need it (screw octoshape, mlg!) and because i need a browser every now and then, that normal people can still use without having to stand next to them and explaining them three times how to switch tabs (no tab bar either, yay :D)

Oh, GOD yes. 100% this. Although weirdly enough, I don't mind too much if they use my keyboard and mouse. Maybe because they're not using it for extended periods of time. Long as they're not eating it's fine.

omg the laptop... It's so true, I hate it. I also hate it when people point at the screen and they feel the need to physically touch the screen to show you what they want to show you. Now I understand if they accidentally hit it but when they touch the screen and then drag their fingerprints across the screen it sucks.
Another thing I hate is when people use your mouse/keyboard with while eating stuff and after you ask them to not touch the equipment and they tell you so you stop bothering them that they'll clean it and they never do.
Just remembered of this, !@$)( people changing all your settings. I had my friend thinking he should prove to be gosu at SC2 because he was playing at my house, so while I went to the bathroom, he felt the need to change all my DPI on my mouse, I wanted to kick him in the balls.
I think software changes keybind/sensitivity are worse than hardware discomfort imo.

I refuse to use it again without cleaning/wiping it off. I also hate how my mom pushes my monitor back to the end of the desk on some funky angle along with my keyboard, knocking my desk speakers off on to the floor. FSDFLSJFOPASDWEDAOSDCIJMS :<

whenever i let anyone use my gear, i wipe down everything with a damp paper towel afterward. i dont think i'll ever let someone use my laptop for more than 5 minutes.
|
omfg it bothers me so much. nobody ever understands why. i am glad i am not alone.
today, i came home with my monitor an inch or two forward. "MOM WHAT WERE YOU DOING ON MY COMPUTER"
|
I really dont care when people use my stuff...unless they don't ask then I rage a little
|
I got my macbook pro last year.
I still don't let anyone touch it.
|
I make everyone wash their hands if they use my stuff, but I still clean everything when their done using it. But thats only if they have to use it for a reason, otherwise I don't let anyone use my stuff.
|
wow you guys are freaks. I let everyone use my stuff however he/she whishes.
If you don't like someone to mess with your software/config/data just enable 'Guest' account and block the screen whenever you leave your keyboard, not that hard.
|
I hate when people use my tournamenet edition fightstick. I have a mate who goes APE-SHIT on it with the full force of his whole arm. You only need to use ur wrist
|
I have keyboards from ~95 on both of my computers so I dont care so much about that. But people tuching my monitors is really really annoying. It's hard to clean greasy fingerprints that has no reason being there in the first place. Once on a LAN a friend destroied my keysetup and everything on Unreal Tournament. Never tuched the game after that. It took a really long while to set ut and he just reset it to default or something. Those young kids that dont use ,.- for strafe and jump are sooo annoying. Ok I guess people born in the mid 80's are not kids anymore but ,.- was default in the first fps games.
|
Yeah, i'm the same way. I absolutely hate when other people use my stuff because they never seem to treat it with the same care I do, which I find incredibly disrespectful. I'm especially anal about my computer because I spend the vast majority of my time and excess money on it, and I have everything set up just the way I like it so when people feel the need to move everything all over the place i get very annoyed.
|
People can use my computer and I can use theirs. Not a big deal really.

i hate people who type REALLY HARD like they think the keyboards aren't sensitive enough to register their key presses like wtf plz dont break MY FUCKING KEYBOARD U PIECE OF SHIt.

i used to be like that but now i'm pretty chill about it.

It's fine if people want to use my mouse or external screen, but I hate it when people want to touch my laptop... and geez it's hard to explain stuff like that to people who are completely clueless and treat their own electronics like crap.

the other day i ordered curry rice
i was playing a game of SC2
i raped the guy early so i thought okay its time to eat then make some mass void rays late game
rice came in 1 big cup, curry in a small cup
i took the top off the rice cup and took the top off the curry cup
it was dark in the room
i then poured all the curry into the rice cup
except the rice cup was wrapped with plastic wrap
the heat from the curry helped the plastic wrap expand upwards like a volcano
i sat there in disbelief as the molten curry spilled all over my keyboard
i lost the game, but luckily it wasnt my keyboard
not sure how this is relevent

I would let everyone use my stuff (and I usually do) but most people can't tell the difference between headphones and a $100-headset-that-i-bought-and-shouldn't-be-left-on-the-floor-getting-stepped-on

What to say ? Yes i hate it too. Was on a lan, brought my keyboard and a new mouse (it was the mx500 if you know what it was back in the old days). The left click just didn't feel the same after 1 starcraft game where someone played on it while i was out for lunch. I was so fucking frustrated after that. I mean a 80$ mouse gettin screwed because of 1 starcraft game ? Fuk it. Not to mention the keyboard getting wet/gross because of the sweat... The feeling just wasn't the same, and on top of it i lost the whole tournament. So yeah. Can't let anyone use my cpu at all except my fanily because they know their stuff too.

I loaned out my keyboard for a tournament (none of the TL tournaments)
My poor Lyacosa.
I should take a picture of it, half of the important keys are missing.
like...
Pre-broken keyboard : Post-broken keyboard
W : Numpad / G : Right square bracket E : Print Screen 1 : Scroll Lock Up Arrow : Down arrow Down Arrow : Numpad 2 Numpad 2 : Pause/Break
^ I needed those one at a time and didn't feel like rejumbling my keyboard. lol.
Fucking pissed. I've had this KB forever and he's friggin pushing the keys so hard his finger is poking out of the keyboard on the other side or something. Afterwards he was like "lol sorry dude, your KB is falling apart" and I stare in disbelief as he hands me a KB with missing buttons.
"Where's the keys?"
"Hell if I know. It's too dark..."

omg, i hate when my brother touches my electronics. i swear this kid always has buttery popcorn hands and then my shit gets all greasy and i have to clean it.
|
Honestly its like when you let someone borrow your car. So when you get it back the seats in the wrong position, and when that shit happens it takes forever to get it back, station is changed, steering wheel is greasy, etc. Lesson we learned today dont let people use your shit that you do not trust.Actually just dont let anyone touch your stuff.
|
It sounds like people are oversensitive with their stuff (or are exaggerating...quite funny actually).
I mean, I don't want to lose stuff either, but I tend to, you know, not loan shit to people and keep my stuff to me, and clean it when they need cleaning (except for my laptop...really should). It does help I know a lot of people with general respect towards my stuff too, but I mean, really, don't loan expensive shit to people and keep it locked away or discourage the use of it if you don't want it used. I know it's impossible to stop mischief really, but still. I never have a problem just reverting things back to the way they were; if I'm letting people use my stuff I have to expect it's going to be used in a way more akin to how they use it (I do not forgive blatant destruction of my things though, more out of principle than anything).
To counter my own argument though I'm also pretty minimalist and with my equipment since I think most expensive stuff is a waste. I have a 15 dollar mouse, 5 dollar keyboard and an old LCD monitor I bought from a buddy who has no sense of materialism in the slightest. So I really don't have as much money to lose if something does happen.
|
You just need to use shitty equipment like me and you wont mind. I use the keyboard that came with my comp and I bought my logitech mini optical for $20. I eat at my comp all the time. No worries for me. But then again I dont think anyone has ever actually used my comp but me. There is just never been a reason for it.

really true
i had a logitech m500 (maybe 30-40 bucks) people used it, i didn't really care
i recently brought home a razer mamba. omg.. omg... people eating, touching the mouse, getting food oil or stain on it. banging it against the desk accidentally or just being clumsy.. i mean cmon..
but its not even that.
people touching the screen while reading. i mean.. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TOUCH MY SCREEN to read something.
i saw what they were reading too. the font was at least 16 and it was well spaced out. cmon. sighhhhhhh
if i ever make enough money in the future. im gonna make 2 computers. 1 for myself; no one else can touch
and then another one where anyone can do w/e the hell they want with it lol =D

I generally don't mind, but some of my friends I know will destroy my gear, so I don't let them use it.
One time, a few years ago my friends and I were playing super smash bros melee on the gamecube and my friend WRECKED my controller. I don't even know how he managed to demolish it so hard in the span of 2 hours. Asshole still hasn't paid me back.

i dont give care if someone uses my computer at all, but i guess thats cause all my equipment (screen mouse keyboard) are handydowns from my brothers handydowns

You have reasonable views about people (mis)using your gear, but it's nothing next to fighting gamers. Breathing near their controllers or sticks is a crime punishable by death. I actually know some Smashers who got new controllers and spent 120+ hours breaking them in because someone else used them for ONE MATCH. People are insane.
But you're fine. Just smack whoever's screwing with your stuff.
|
don't really care when people use my gaming gear cause it's old as shit anyway, 3 year old keyboard, even older mx518 and everglide titan. it does piss me off when people, especially people that don't play music, just pick up and try to play my guitar without asking. that gets my panties in a bunch

I agree with the gaming controllers part, I hate when other people use my controllers but keyboard and mouse are fine with me.

I dont care. I deliberately buy expensive gear because it is bulletproof, rageproof and can be washed once a decade.

nobody but me gets to touch my SteelSeries 7G / Razer Imperator.... i also get a bit paranoid when sweaty handed people use my xbox controller lol :/

I'm worse when folks lean up against a car or something -- and if they give me lip about it it drives me up the wall. I go through great care to keep my paint in good condition. They either do not interact with my car, or they can respect it.
|
I don't really mind when people use my gear... in fact, people don't really want to use my gear. I am sweaty as fuck when I play games, so my mouse and keyboard is covered with layers of grey-black solidified sweat-waste-whatever. lol. I try not to use other people's gear to be courteous. I bring my logitech mouse+keyboard wherever I go for a lan party, and I bring my own xbox 360 controller too. hehehehehe
SWEATY HANDS = ME but ME = COURTEOUS
