I'm getting sick of replay casting. Watching a tournament game streamed is better than watching a replay of that tournament game if 1) it's live, and 2) the announcers add something which you viewing the replay wouldn't get.
Replay casting is not live, and the vast majority of announcers hinder you from enjoying the game. As to commentating, they are awkward, bland, and speak monotically. As to observing, if I hear "missed that drop, sorry about that" again, I'm going to lose my mind.
It wouldn't be that bad if the streamers were prompt about releasing replays, but they aren't. If you're casting a game from replays, how come it takes streamers weeks to post them?
Just give me the replays. Wait till after you stream it. I don't care. Wait a week for all I care. Just give a firm ETA and post them in the OP. That's all I ask.

Streaming from replays is the only way we can ensure people don't cheat
There is also an issue with lag if people are in the game that are streaming it
Those are the two major reasons people cast replays instead of being an ob in a game and streaming it while casting

Well the TLOpen, which is the only major tourney i have seen casted from replays released the games within 2 hours.
And honestly I don't see any difference between casting it live or from replays other then less lag, no people spoiling the matches by messaging the players

I don't mind it. It's live if its casted within short time of the actual game imo

Replay casting gets on my nerves if only because dual castors do something like "And we're starting in 3...2...1....go." I don't know why it irks me...but for some reason, it does.
And yeah.....SC2 commentating is pretty bad.....
Which in all honesty, has nothing to do with the commentators a lot of the times. It just has to do with how boring the game is to watch and how undeveloped current gameplay is. Once gameplay evolves and commentators learn those evolutions, then commentating gets more interesting.
For now though, we're stuck with "and Huk is doing beautiful probe harass"......
Honestly, who the hell actually commentated on probe harass in BW for more than 5 seconds? I swear there's so much commentating on harassing with workers.

Bisu probe (sometimes Stork) commentating is the best. Commentators wouldn't stop saying their probes won't die until they die.
The "3, 2, 1, go" is for syncing purpose which is very useful in dual commentary.

Yeah but do you really have to commentate on Huk's beastly probe micro for such a long period of time? We already know Huk is baller at owning up people with his probe micro. I don't think you need to say much after that.
And I know it's for syncing purposes. The idea is that without replay casting, that wouldn't be an issue.
Honestly, I never thought cheating was an issue.....but you know....I could be dumb and naive. Which is usually the case.

It sounds like you want better casters not live vs relays =p

Until Blizzard gives us a workable alternative, there isn't any way for us to hold online tournaments and cast them without doing it via replays. When there is money on the line people will do anything for an advantage.

how is tournament games (assuming it's their first time being shown, and not someone casting a week old replay or something) being streamed from replays a bad thing? Does it really irk you that the games actually happened 30 minutes earlier? What makes you think the casters wouldn't make the same mistakes and you wouldn't get annoyed at them if it was live?
|
Like Plexa said there is no alternative unless Blizzard makes something like HLTV with built in delay or some other means of casting live with delay
