Warning: this is a rant.

Cranberry muffins - sour and yummy. I love it. No other kinds of muffins come remotely close to the rich taste of Cranberry muffins.

Screw chocolate (chips) and blueberry muffins and their cloying sweetness.

Screw banana nuts muffins and their pretentious crunchiness.

Screw carrot muffins and their .... well, carrot muffins are just plain bad.

Anyways, the real rant is the following.

Tim Hortons is probably the biggest coffee shop in Canada and is considered a national brand by many Canadians. In downtown Toronto, it takes about 5-10 minutes to walk from one Tim Hortons to another Tim Hortons. While I don't call their food super-amazing, because of its coverage, it's very easy to grab something between classes at Tim Hortons.

HOWEVER, for whatever reason, Tim Hortons does NOT have Cranberry muffins (OK fine, Cranberry muffins are on their nutritional guide, so some people may sell them. But the handful of stores I visit - big stores - do not have Cranberry muffins). Look, they are even willing to bring out stupid ideas such as pumpkin muffins for a limited time during Thanksgiving, but NO FREAKING CRANBERRY MUFFINS. GRRRR

Sometimes I wish McDonald's (they sell cranberry muffins) can take over Toronto so I can access cranberry muffins more easily T_T.

Cranberry muffins aren't half bad, but I much prefer any other type of muffin you listed, so, personally, I'm quite satisfied

Here in Canada, it's small coffee + muffin for 1.39 + tax.

Btw, the problem I see with Tim Hortons is that it's almost entirely franchise-owned. Unlike McDonald's, which are mostly corporate-owned, each Tim Hortons has a private owner.

Although private owners usually take more time to manage their stores, they like to cut corners. I know this because I know friends that worked in Tim Hortons before. For example, one person told me although the company rule was supposed to be that any baked goods could only be on shelf for a couple of hours, her owner would keep them on shelf for an infinite amount of time - and get really upset if someone tried to throw something away.

While I was working at McDonald's years ago, my manager (who does NOT own the store) was meticulous about timing and throwing things away on time - because those did not cost himself money and he was just following rules.

For the case of the cyanberry muffin, I think it's because many owners of Tim Hortons do not want to sell so many products at the same time to cut cost.

I am fairly OK with McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. I have not eaten hamburgers + fries from "restaurants", however.

Although I do admit sometimes I find it hard to swallow a Burger King chicken burger whole. It's way too big and oily for me. I am, however, fine with McDonald's. Even though I worked there for 2 years while in highschool and had seen some of the "darker" sides of how they operate, I still think the food they serve is fairly good. I would still grab a burger there sometimes, if they weren't so far away from the campus.

The places I worked did not do that. In fact, McDonald's is much better than Tim Hortons on this.

All Tim Hortons bakeries are actually not baked in the store. They are baked in a factory in god-knows-where, then shipped to the stores frozen. The stores only WARM THEM UP then put them to sale.

McDonald's use a pre-mixed *raw* mixture for muffins. When I worked morning shifts and needed muffins, I just took the mixture out of the fridge, grabbed a big spoon and a muffin tray, then scooped the viscous mixture to the trays then sent them to the oven for 20 minutes. It was still fairly simple to make, but at least I consider that "freshed baked".

I worked in a produce department in a grocery store for a few years. Word of advice - WASH EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU EAT IT. I'm not joking, there is usually stuff growing underneath the counters, and you don't even want to know how bad the back rooms are.....

But yea..... Harveys is definitely the way to go for a burger though.

that word of advice is actually extremely important.

I know a person who worked in there warehouse where produce is well processed before it gets shipped to stores. And basically what happens with everything in there is they go into this big hangar in a fucking SPACE SUIT since the stuff is so deadly, and spray down all the stuff with the thing they clean them with, pesticides etc.

i havent eaten at a fast food place in years and years though alot of my friends love them. I do get tim hortons all the time because there's one in my school though, so i suppose that's sorta fast food
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

That spray stuff is probably a dark colour, because whenever I've had to handle the fruits/vegetables a lot, my hands turn black.

And its not because they are dirty. Dirt washes away with a bit of water no problem. The black stuff stains your skin for a couple of days.....

Not that I don't agree with the bolded part, but I work at a grocery store(grocery dept., not produce) and the produce displays as well as warehouse have always seemed quite sanitary to me, so it might just be where you worked where it's that bad. But yeah, you're still best off washing everything to be sure regardless.

Cranberry Muffins? Tim's best muffin is Chocolate Chip. And the best doughnut is a rossette au miel. I dunno what it's called outside of French Canada. These are scientific facts, not up for debate.

^ In Canada Mc'D's is trying to be a major competitor with Tim's. Across the street from my college there's a McCafe. Mcdonalds that only sells Coffee and pastry's. Almost every Mcdonalds sells Muffins now I belive. The real crime is they don't do pancakes anymore. DAMN those Mcdonalds pancakes were good. So good. Number 1 childhood memory is eating McDonalds pancakes.

Also October is the best month because of red leaves, Halloween and pumpkin flavored everything. Pumpkin Muffin + Pumpkin Latte please.

With pumpkin sauce. And pie.

I dunno why, but I simply love strawberry donuts. Theres about a 50% chance of Timmys having them in stock, and I get so happy while waiting in line to chomp into that frosted outer layer and have the strawberry jam gush into my mouth. So so so good.
