So I just finished Crysis. It's taken me a while to get to play it mostly because it had such steep hardware requirements and I only recently got a new computer.
Great game I think, the graphics were awesome, no surprise there, but I also love the suit mechanics and the gameplay. In this regard I think Crysis takes the cake over Half Life 2. I'm a little disappointed in the weapons though. Most of the guns are pretty much alike, and even though I feel like I'm shooting guys right in the head they take like a million shots to kill. And before they actually die, npcs don't even seem to notice I'm emptying my clip in them.
So I loved the early part of the game and the guerilla warfare, but I also really liked the latter part, with the aliens. If you haven't played the game, consider yourself spoiler-warned as of now, though there's really not much to tell.
I mean, there are aliens, waking up and starting shit, not terribly original. But if not in story, Crysis totally delivers in scenery and atmosphere. I thought the insides of the mothership were fucking awesome, and during the final battle on the carrier I came nerdbuckets, it was so beautiful. At first I was just mesmerized by the pretty smoke and the fact that I was fighting aliens on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, but then I looked past the thing I was shooting at and I noticed the entire sky was swarming with the damn things and aaaaawsum! And then I got to kill a huge thing and then I got to kill something even bigger. That's all I really ask for in an fps.
Definitely high scores on atmosphere. If you haven't played it, I recommend it. Up until now I had gotten the impression that it was just a looker, but it really isn't, it was a pretty great game, and I am definitely getting the sequel.
Though hopefully it skips right past going back to the island at the end, because I thought that was fucking retarded.

The ONLY thing i dont like about Crysis is when aliens appear stealth play basically goes down the drain..... and that for some reason all of the human enemies disappear

It was a great game, totally agree about the atmosphere.
Cloak could be abused a little too easily however, and enemies needed to be headshotted to kill (which was frustrating). But overall it was a great gaming experience

Crysis is a great game, I like how you can play it anyway you want. Have you gotten Crysis Warhead? The multiplayer game that comes with Crysis Warhead, Crysis Wars, is quite good. The Power Struggle maps are huge and a team can use tactics involving tanks, air and infantry. I really wish the game picked up as a competitive game.

i enjoyed the game and i also had the same complaint about the weapons, eventually i just started abusing cloak, unload a clip into one recloak repeat, i also played warhead which was more of the same, looking forward to #2 hopefully they improve on the mistakes of the 1st and make it awesome.

I got crysis but my computer can't handle it. I'm getting my new computer this friday. I CANT WAIT TO PLAY IT!

The only thing I didn't like about Crysis was the ending that really wasn't an ending. It reminded me of Halo 2's atrocious ending.
To me, the highlights of the game were when you were fighting the Humans. Once the Aliens showed up, all the tactics and sneaking around and stuff went out the window, and you just had to go guns blazing all the time.

I absolutely hated that mission where ur in an aircraft and u have to do dogfights with horrible controls. other than that tho it was a fantastic game. Beautiful graphics, beautiful map that actually made me feel like im on an island instead of doing linear stuff, gun play felt very functional, and the supersuit was awesome (i loved invisibility)..
btw the sequel (warhead) wasn't as good, simply because it was more linear. You do get to play as the british guy tho

The jungle play in crysis was fucking amazing. So was the alien part when you got out of the cave and everything was ice.
As others have said crysis delivers in athmosphere. I LOVED HL1 and 2, but after playing crysis the graphics and athmosphere are so bleh. But the story in Crysis is terrible. It is just like any other scifi flic.

crysis was great! i hated the part in the alien ship though... it was soo confusing. i was close to stop right there cause that part was so annoying. but it was worth going through it and finishing the game.
i also played warhead but i got stuck at the part where you had to fight this huuuuge robot thingy.. cant really remember what it was (some kind of robo spider?). somehow i couldnt find the motivation to go on at that point.
but thats some time ago already... maybe i should give it another try

crysis was good because of the ridiculous requirements. and also, you can jump on top of a house then punch it and laugh as it collapses at your feet. and i threw a turtle at a guy and killed him. the story was really dumb though lol

I thought it was a really cool game. sneaking around and aiming carefully, but also running around blasting aliens with shotguns.
|
Yeah I liked the sandbox style of Crysis, the way you could pick up stuff and just wander around completing the objectives any old way you want. Reminded me of Far Cry.
