PS3 Problem, some games are "laggy"

Overall, I've noticed my ps3's interface is running laggier/slower, and generally the loading times for games have lengthened.

I've been recentely having this problem, where my FIFA 10 periodically 'lags/chops' every 3 seconds and it makes the game unplayable. I get it online and offline.

Can anyone tell me if they're having this problem also, and if there is a solution.
I noticed I've been having it with my FIFA 09 disc too, but the both discs are clean and the FIFA 10 was working completely fine 2 weeks ago.

I'd appreciate anyone's input/help.

I haven't had that problem, but do you have a fatty or a slim? The only complaint I have is that I can no longer stream videos through the PS3. I use to be able to stream shows via megavideo/upload ect, but now it just doesn't work. I thought it was just a patch, but my brother's slim still streams.

If there's any way to, try rolling back your most recent patch. I've read (even on TL in fact) that PS3 patches have been notorious for screwing things up. Since I don't own a PS3 myself, I can't help beyond that

any adding to my own problems that may or may not be relevant to OP's topic but after i dl'd a recent patch i put in SuperStreetFighter4 and the save file was corrupted. lost all my colors/replays/progress/icons/etc. (luckily ssf4 doesnt make u have to unlock chars like sf4 did or else i would of flipped shit)

maybe its something with the disc or the recent patch that was dl'd

I don't think its the disc, because both fifa 09 and 10 give the same problem. Also, it's a ps3 slim It could be a recent firmware update though, but do you know how to rollback on that? Is it just an option in the PS3 menu or do you need a special program to do it?

make sure nothing is block the exhausts, maybe use air duster to clean it.

I've seen the lag issue you describe on a friend's up-to-date PS3 slim playing guitar hero, where my pre-linux-removal patch PS3 fat plays it very smoothly.

I haven't helped you narrow it down, but I have seen the bug, or a similar one.

Wait for the next update. I had the same issues and called back to Tokyo, the "official" shop where I bought it and they told me it's a firmware problem.

I play FIFA 10 too, i also got the choppiness after a while but its only online, my friends did as well. Im 90% sure its the servers but if its happening to you offline then i don't know what the problem could be.

edit: just saw you said its your ps3 in general, its probably the ps3 itself then, it can't be the discs if your interface as a whole is also affected.
