The music that is linked in that blog post coupled with the rainy mood is really soothing. I've tried to find music that is kind of similar to the one posted in that thread (Track 8 - Godot - The Fragrance of Dark Coffee) but sadly I couldn't .
So I have a little request to ask the members of TL. Could you guys recommend me some jazz musicians and/or tracks that play or have a similar style to the track mentioned above?
On to the second matter.
I've had two iPods (iPod Nano 3rd Gen, which the internals broke and I currently have the iPod Touch 8gb 2.5g Gen) and the pair of earbuds that came with them both broke in the same exact way... My cousin gave me his pair of apple earbuds and guess what? They broke the exact same way...
I know that people say Apple headphones/earbuds (or whatever you like to call it) have a extremely low sound and build quality but the circular design fits my ears perfectly. In-ears just fall out of my ears and just don't want to stay in there. That's why I don't put them into consideration when I go out to find new headphones to buy.
The problem with doing that is that I only have a very limited selection from which to choose from because there are so many companies that make in-ear headphones.
I went to my local electronic store (Future Shop) to look at headphones and there are just an endless selection of in-ears to choose from and maybe about 2 standards pairs.
I've basically found two pairs of earbuds that I'm considering to buy.
It's either these fake apple earbuds from DealExtreme which can be found here - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14472 These are expendable and can be replaced easily and cheaply if broken.
OR
The Sony Piiq Exhale - which is a new line of headphones from Sony. And that can be seen in detail here - http://discover.sonystyle.com/piiq/index.html#/product/exhale-4 These are only $15 and have a similar design to the apple earbuds with more style and (I'm assuming) better quality.
My question to you guys is: Which one would you pick out of the two? Or if you have headphones that you know are relatively cheap and fit my requirements (not that many because I'm not a audiophile lol) please tell me.
If you ever consider going a step up in terms of earphone quality (and it doesn't sound like you want to, but I'll just leave this here just in case), I highly highly recommend Klipsch Image S4s. They're simply amazing headphones, and the quality difference between stock earphones is incredible. For reference, here's a CNET review http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/klipsch-image-s4-earphones/4505-7877_7-33577358.html?tag=rvwBody
They're usually around $80, but for the price they're the best quality you could find. Great quality (CNET says they sound like headphones that cost 2x to 3x as much, not that I am that much of an audiophile) for pretty much the cheapest "nice" headphones you can find.
All decent earphones are in-ear and not ibud style, like the above-linked Image S4. But all the non-cheapo in-ear earphones (that aren't custom molded) will come with detachable tips and a set of different tips to try. For the vast majority of people, one of the options will work fine. Your past experience may just be with the cheaper ones without those options. Then again, you're looking at a low price range, so it's probably not worth bothering.
The Sennheiser HD201 is a decently well-respected budget ($20 shipped) full-size headphone. If portability is not a concern, no reason to go for earbuds really.
As for soothing music, I really think saxophone is definitely up there. A album I recently discovered I had... Larry Carlton's "For Heaven's Sake" is a pretty relaxing song.
Get in-ears with a cord design that wraps around your ear. See: Westone, most Shure designs, etc. If they're falling out, you either have the wrong size of tip on or you aren't putting them in properly.

Check out VA – Mellow Beats Friends and Lovers (2009)
I listen to this when I'm just chilling out after a long day.
5/5 highly recommended....
For compilations, one of my all time favourite jazz compilation is "VA - Jazzified Tranquilizzer (2010)" most of it is pretty similar to what OP wants. Saudade compilations are good too.
