As a chinese person you know how big a part of your own culture Confucianism is. I have extensively read and studied Confucius and if you dont think it is chauvinistic then theres no point even discussing this LOL....and you need to actually read and think about the nature of a Confucian society.
Only in 1949 was there even a CALL for male and female equality, which hasn't been fulfilled very much. keep in mind that with the one child law female abortions were very common and normal, purely on the basis of gender. But i'm sure that's just a coincidence...its not that the male could continue the family line whereas the female is 'thrown out' and given away to another family when married.
Drop your condescending attitude.
You are only partially right anyway. The Chinese culture has traditionally been HEAVILY chauvinistic, however, since the communist party overtook the country, there has been a very strong push for gender equality. During the years when China was completely closed off to western nations, it was almost non-chauvinistic at all. In fact, the Chinese communism was partially based on gender equality.
Only until recently, when they opened up China to other nations, and loosened the communist control did China retract its progress. While it's true that the older generation still care very much about boys/girls, the newer and more educated generations care less and less. My parents' generation (growing up under heavy communism propaganda) is probably the least chauvinistic generation in the entire Chinese history.
If you compare today's China against Japan and South Korea, you'd notice a huge difference in the way society views women. How could you even say that "the call has not been fulfilled very much"?
Unless you have a parent who has lived through that era in China, there is no way you could understand.

i know so many guys who are like that. Trying to "pretend" to be sneaky and hint shit. They are mentally very weak and if you don't show how much you like them, they will think there is something wrong with you and hate you. better to not be with him anyways...emotional problems coming from a girl is normal (), coming from a guy is messed up. usually, guys who are like that end up being useless... im generalizing of course.

That guy is such a child....He doesn't deserve a girlfriend....

Umm no? They were only treating the black guy badly due to racial discrimination. The Asian guy was only overprotective (because their families are close friends) and got angry because she was making friends with the black guy.

Just based on that I have to say the guy sounds really disturbing. Deleting your work and verbally/physically harassing you? Makes me think of those unstable people that commit crimes that you sometimes see in the news :/ I hope you're careful/ok.

^ Lived in China for 3 years. Couple things I learned:
Chinese wives wield an incredible amount of power. In public, she will maintain the illusion that the man is king; but don't be fooled by cultural etiquette. Calling China chauvinistic is wrong. Inferring modern Chinese values from Confucius dogma is wrong. For one, Mao Zedong thought Confucius was a douche. Also, show me a country that is not male-dominated.
The average Chinese University student is ~5 years less mature than their western counterparts. This has to do with limited life experience and parental sheltering.

XiaoJoyce - 应该找个外国男朋友好好教训他 (You should find a foreign boyfriend to teach this guy a lesson) I do not need subtitles for chinese language . I am already feel bad for being bad in my mother tongue language.. but I am still better, ALOT better than foreigner keke. Not to mention poor english too. Ah, but I am okay, as long as able to communicate, I am content keke. I do not plan to write newspaper so I think I am fine. Chinese University student is ~5 years less mature than their western counterparts. If this is true.. I am sad. Anyway, I do not think I should go for foreign boyfriend, to make the guy more angry. It is not the right motivation to find boyfriend?
Making the guy more angry would be bad..considering the things he has already done.
