The GP is far more equipped to treat skin pathology than a urologist, even if it happens to be on your schlong. I figured the guy who has seen hundreds of cases of every variety of STD and tests people on a daily basis would be the one to go to when I woke up with a rash on my dick. Seems pretty logical to me. If I knew what it was beforehand I would have seen my GP or a dermatologist. I was assuming worst case scenario.

Urology is a surgical specialty. He deals with testicular torsion, renal colic, penile fracture, etc. He probably wants to shoot himself every time some Johnny Screwsalot walks in the door with the clap.

Well sorry for going to the sexual health clinic and having a urologist walk in? He obviously doesn't care too much about seeing cases of the clap if he works at that place. I didn't choose a urologist, I went to a sexual health clinic to see a "cock doc" (i.e. someone who can tell me what is on my dick) and a urologist walked out. I suppose I could have made that more clear but I don't see the point in berating me for not knowing what the red rash on my dick was and who to see about it. The guy is probably also a gynecologist since I'm reasonably sure hes in charge of the place.

Yeah easy to say, but if I had a problem down there I would want the finest doctor in the land to examine me. Which in this case was the urologist (I think?)

I understand the natural inclination to think this way, but it is seriously a waste of resources to go to the urologist for every problem of the penis. Your family doc (or the docs at these STD clinics) has seen all the common problems a LOT more and will be more experienced in treating them. On the off-chance (seriously, tiny tiny chance especially for skin stuff) you need see a urologist, either: 1) your family doc will capably refer you 2) you are lying in the ER in excruciating pain with your penis bent and even a blind man would know to call him.

Just wondering.. seems like weird advice to tell you to soak in salty water 3 times a day and not give you any cream for it. At least the no-medication route is probably more ideal for you if it works. edit : Ah nvm i just read that u werent referred to an urologist but u went to a walk in clinic.

also you should use it even after symptoms disappear for a few weeks to ensure total eradication. btw, you say your hygiene is good. yeast infections can be caused by being too clean. you need some bacteria down there to control the fungus levels. killing the bacteria allows for yeast infections such as the one you are currently suffereing from

My girlfriend had it for a while (of course we didn't partake in sexual intercourse during the outbreak), and we're sure it's gone now, but just for future reference.. can you? I'm circumsized so I know it can't develop under my skin, so to speak. :o Yeah, the doctor I saw explained that it can be transmitted sexually but isn't really classified as an STD, so you definitely don't want to be having sex while either of you has it otherwise you can just pass it back and forth. I assuming I got it from my partner.
