I grew up with the internet at a time when it was the epitome of funny to say "teh" instead of "the" and "pwn" every second word. People at school thought I was hilarious when I sang the cat dog theme song to them and said "gay" instead of "cat". Luckily, I grew out of this pretty quickly. It seems most of the world hasn't though.
I absolutely despise most self-described youtube comedians for the exact same reason I look back at myself when I was young and shared the same tastes in humor and think "geez, I sure was retarded". I cringe when I open a youtube video and it's basically a guy who spent 2 minutes thinking of some TOTALLY RANDOM HILARIOUS things to say that TOTALLY DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE, of course followed by filming himself saying these things, uploading it, and it getting 500k views in a few days. This usually consists of something roughly equivalent to "Hey guys, So, Cats are sweet. Imagine CATS WITH LASER GUNS!!!" *flash in some picture he found on google image search with an mspaint gun in its hands* ISN'T THAT AWESOME? HAHAHA CATS WITH LASERS". This video will then about 98% of the time by my estimates, average 10 thousand views a day and be forwarded so many times via email that there's 5000 fw's in the subject line.
I'm not one to think of myself as some sort of god far above such unsophisticated plebian humor, but really?
Stuff like this:
I don't have any more examples right now as I find most of them actually on the front page of youtube under "Featured videos" and quickly forget them, but i'm sure people know this sort of thing as there's hundreds of thousands of videos like them.
It's not all bad, for example Derrick Comedy does this sort of thing in a way that's actually tolerable. Rather than saying HILARIOUS TOTALLY RANDOM THINGS XD KITTEN LAZERS LOL followed by "Please subscribe! Thank you for all the views!" they actually put some effort into the random shit they think up and form a story around it rather than simply saying it over and over again, or at least it seems like it. They're a good example of what I think is one of the few good YouTube comedians/comedy groups. I don't like most of their stuff personally as it's not my thing but I can absolutely see why they're popular. However, they still are about as popular as some absolutely atrocious, unfunny people who probably come close to making a living off uploading youtube videos that consist of them changing the camera angle every 5 seconds while awkwardly delivering a handful of shit to my ears. "Comedy" youtube blogs are even worse than songs or skits.
Am I the only person in the world not enthralled by this shit?

I like his delivery/presentation but as I just explained I really despise the content. I feel so alone.
I suggest you watch Arfenhouse, a decade old flash series that died years ago
The series was originally uploaded to Newgrounds but the YouTube videos are easier to share. The series first episode is pretty bad but the second and sixth one are good. + Show Spoiler +

The second and sixth ones are my favorites, it's very random but its a classic in my eyes. I laughed alot at these a while back.
I absolutely hate this, the ones i hate the most are those incoherent "random" ramblings with quick cuts of the person talking appearing from different angles all the time, and stupid "random" images placed inside the video for no reason at all.
It almost ruined the rest of the night for me just thinking about stupid clips like that.
well what´s funny is that my humor seems to have changed overtime. For exaple when i was like 10 or eleven it was realy funny and "cool" to say vulgar stuff like dick or something. But then i was turning 13 and 14 it became not funny because you know at that age every boy wanted to make the impression that sex was the most normal thing in the universe and that you had enough of it even though the only pussy we had seen was in a few pornmovie´s. But when i turned like 19 this infantile stuff got funny again. For example i was sitting in my german class with afriend of mine and we had to fill out gaps in a text and because we hate our german classes we just filled out every gap with the word Penis and we laughed so hard that our teacher had to advise us.
Maybe your OP is a little too bold and make it looks like you don't like random humor at all.
However, I agree with you some of it is REALLY bad, but some of it is good. I would say it's like all types of humor, it's the comedian doing it and the way it is done that makes it good or bad.

yeah that's how it usually works
humor stages:
you start with bad jokes then you go into "regular" jokes, or mainstream humor then "lol so random XD" humor then, about the time you turn of age, you start laughing at bad jokes again. it's the circle of life
Even though I deeply despise this sort of unimaginitive, trite "random" humor, OP's video was actually not that bad. I mean, it wasn't really funny, but it was pretty well made. Way better than all this Fred, Smosh, YTP bullshit floating around the tubes these days.
Edit: Ray William Johnson too, how could I forget him.
There's this thing called choice. You don't have to watch shitty amateur comedians. Random or not, they suck. You can just watch the great stuff, like Monty Python skits. [The only reason I phrase it like this, is because you act like you're the only person in the world who doesn't like it]
Personally, I hate it when the extent of someone's sense of humour is 'WOW ISNT THAT AWKWARD AND ANNOYING." IE: Mad TV for the majority of their sketches... It's really not clever at all to think of a situation that would be uncomfortable... I'll stick to vicious gangs of keep left signs, thank you.
Man, Ray William Johnson has the worst jokes, but he's usually got good vids (too many damn cats) so I watch them. And does anyone understand that two camels in a tiny car joke? I don't.
Another guy with stupid immature humor (read hilarious) is Jon Lajoie.
Just cause that jellyfish guy gets over a million views on some of his youtube videos doesn't mean he's any good. But at the same time since when did being good at comedy ever correlate with how famous you are (e.g. Dane Cook). Although you could argue that comedy has such abstract factors in terms of quality its hard to tell what is "great comedy" and "bad/stupid/random comedy"
I agree with Chef. No point in criticizing the masses for their choice in entertainment.
