So E3 is cranking out game announcements and products like the new xbox and Kinect(wtf?). One of the announcements from THQ and Kaos Studios is a game called Homefront. Like some FPS games today, it involves the united states of america being invaded by a foreign super power. Big surprise in this one is that the foreign power that invades just so happens to be North Korea.
Long story short, North korea takes over the south and the rest of Asia like japan did in Big Mistake Number 2. US economy goes into a bigger shit storm than it already is in and then Big Mistake Number 3 kicks off with the United Korea federation using an EMP on the US and following it up with an invasion. You can see the long story here.
One of the causes for the shitstorm of the plot was the ROKS Cheonan sinking back in March. In the video you can see HIllary Clinton's press report on the issue. That got me thinking, "Wow what the hell is this?"
Sure this would have made a great game because who doesn't want to shoot some North Korean Army assholes? But by using the Cheonan as a plot point, it kinda ruined my opinion of the game. This incident is ongoing and the last thing the world needs is a video game capitalizing on the wrong event. The legacy of the 46 men lost shouldn't be preserved in a video game where it is one of the causes for another world wide conflict. Its just bad PR for the companies and would essentially cause a shitstorm of protests from the international community, even if it is just a game.
So what do you guys think of this game? Do you really care whether or not the Cheonan is a plot point?
