I am seriously thinking of going to Truck driving school to try and earn one as it wouldn't hurt to learn, and working at UPS I noticed a job opening for a domestic trailer driver and just waiting to get high enough seniority at UPS to drive a trailer would be about 13 years, and that is a conservative estimate. But the money is SO good. That and during peak season UPS hires outside drivers. Along with the shortage of drivers that is said to be on the horizon work should be a lot easier.
But if I managed to get a CDL the school I am looking at helps with job placement and according to the statistic on the website starting salaries start around 39k. If I passed and got a job I figure I could drive for at least two years and lay low and have enough to continue my education, perhaps even get back on at UPS that is if could get rehired.
Anyways I have really been considering this, and maybe I could see the country. Good idea?
