Reason 4.0 tune i've been working on

PobTheCad Australia893 Posts June 14 2010 11:18 GMT #1 Hi guys i decided instead of my usual putting up an mp3 link to some lame rapidshare/mediafire or whatever i will provide a more accessible youtube link , added bonus i've included the reason live video feed in there to make it more interesting. Any mixdown or sample advice is appreciated , youtube probably isn't the best place to pick apart a mixdown due to the loss in audio quality through compression but if theres enough requests i'll upload a higher quality mp3 of it so you can make better judgements on that sort of thing. edit - i know one of the acid synths fades out prematurely around 5:00 (barely noticeable) , i fixed this problem but couldnt be bothered redoing the entire capture again

WeSt Portugal918 Posts June 14 2010 12:26 GMT #3 The bass is crying for cutoff automation. The congas are a bit too loud, and it's panning automation is going from left to right too fast. The voice sample is a bit bland and sounds like it is being played in a diferent room. Reverb + delay solves the deal The arped synth @ ~2:00 is again a bit boring and repetitive. Once again it sounds a bit bland to be honest. The fat saw bass @ ~2:45 sounds like it is clipping badly (could be youtube quality). I like the voice samples very much and the song gets weirder and better towards the end. I'm not a big fan of digital TB303 acid sounds but I liked the weirdness in this track. Thumbs up keep em coming!

PobTheCad Australia893 Posts June 14 2010 13:10 GMT #4 lol weirdness? this is pretty tame compared to some of the psytrance i have on this machine the saw isn't clipping but it is probably slightly too loud in there , i only switched those congas in today from some other ones.i find them just about the hardest instrument to mix in properly. as for cutoff automation i'm not sure how to do this in reason , all i've done to the bass was put some compression and eq on it but it is still probably taking up too much headroom in there higher quality mp3 : http://soundcloud.com/greenberg/acid-reality

I think it was missing 1 extra sound on each part. But that could be simply because my style of techno I listen to is different making me think that the style in this video is missing something when in fact it isn't.
