I don't know about anyone else, but I am REALLY considering not buying SC2 anymore. I am disappointed with the game to much and I am...frustrated that they are ripping us off selling the game in 3 sets. Three $60 games. Which should be one, maybe 2 full games OR 1 original game with 2 expansions at like 30 a piece. The game itself is NOT being remade in the expansions, all that is happening is a new campaign and some units. That is it. I know they put a lot of money into SC2 but they are straight up ripping us off. In my opinion, Blizzard as a company has become one of the corrupt companies that no longer cares about its products, just the bottom line. Yes, they try to make a great product still, but they honestly do NOT care anymore about their products like they did in the early 2000's. After Activision merged with Blizzard they have started to go down hill IMO. A list of the things that frustrate me about StarCraft 2 Bnet 2.0 - I don't think anyone can disagree with me here. No one I have talked to is happy about bnet 2.0. And Blizzard has officially stated there will NEVER be chat rooms. The most you will get is a "chat room" for clans and groups, nothing public. I'm sorry but this is one of the most ridiculous things ever. One of the reasons why WoW is so popular is the social aspect of the game. Not everyone is going to play StarCraft 2 to be competitive and play like Nony or Idra. A lot of people will play for the social part of the game and they are taking that away. You would think they would learn how important it is to have a good social interface in the game. The balance of the game. I know this is only beta, and chances are it will probably be fixed later, but I personally do not want to sit here and pay $60 for a game that isn't even established and gives me no guarantee about whether it will be successful or not. As of right now, I am not impressed with the development team at blizzard right now who designed SC2. What in the hell happened to the team that designed SC:BW? Did they all die in a fire or just start to suck at their job over the years? Part of the reason why I do not want to purchase SC2 is that I know for a FACT if I want to stay up with the scene I am going to have to spend another $120 in the next 2 years, 3 years at the most. I'm personally morally inclined to say, "Fuck you!" to any company that tries to sell me basically the same game 3 times at FULL PRICE for all three. WoW didn't even do that. When The Burning Crusade came out new, it was $30. Another reason is how they are trying to DOMINATE, in my opinion, the eSports scene regarding anything StarCraft related. Now this section here is a little more opinion then the other 2, and may not be 100% factual, but if I am wrong about anything, post your opinion or proof of otherwise. But anyways, they are trying to control anything StarCraft related and put a monopoly on it. Now Blizzard developed StarCraft but that does not mean they can control it 100%. They seem very greedy to me here. Other companies, valve for example, who developed the half-life games such as Counter-Strike do not make demands like Blizzard is doing with its games. Anytime a Counter-Strike tournament happens, Valve doesn't go, "Hey, that's our game. You have to pay us X amount of profits (X to me being a unfair amount as I feel Blizzard is doing with StarCraft) made from your event, you have to ask us everytime, you have to let us audit you WHENEVER we want, and anything made from the event (replays etc) are our property not yours so you can't do anything with those either. So you can only make money from the initial event and then we get everything else. I don't know but it seems like Blizzard is being exceptionally greedy and unfair IMO. Isn't there laws about creating monopolies on something? I know this is a game and the game was created by Blizzard, but if you want your game to be consider a sport, don't you really have to let other people get there hands on it a little... This game won't even be able to thrive and become an eSport with how Blizzard is handling everything right now, from the development of the game itself and its interface and how it is dealing with other companies trying to make SC2 viable for eSports. I dunno, what do you guys think? Are you really going to purchase a game for $180(that is no collectors editions)? A game that has, so far in my opinion, not met the standards the company used to thrive to meet or the standards that the gamers and CONSUMERS of there products are asking for. Ok, your thoughts now.

What the hell did you expect from a balance point of view? Is this your first beta game? This beta is probably the most balanced Blizzard game at this point of development. Just, wow. Face palm.

I will purchase Wings of Liberty, and if I am very disappointed with that (bnet problems mainly) then I will not buy the other two expansions. And yes, without lan I find it hard to believe that sc2 will thrive as an esport. Hopefully Blizzard comes to their senses and fixes things. On another note, the game itself is pretty awesome though, its such a shame its not being used to its fullest potential. edit: did Blizzard really confirm that there will be no chat rooms for sc2? O_O I thought they may not add it at launch but maybe add it sometime later

If your experience with Broodwar wasn't worth $180 dollars, I'm sorry. I have faith Blizzard will pull through. Also, if you want to know our thoughts, use the search function. These rage blogs/threads are a dime-a-dozen.

Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.
See that big "SEARCH" button on top left of the page? Type English words of your rant/thoughts in there.
You'll get about 30 threads with the exact same content, better worded than yours.

I will buy sc2, if only cuz the map editor is so flexible and powerful, god knows what fun ums people gonna come up with.
oh shit, isn't blizzard trying to charge for maps? errrr...
|
ew not another one of these...
|
ill just stick to scbw, until better rts games shows up.

a point about other companies not making the demands that blizzard is:
if blizzard once sets the precedence of pulling it off, other game companies will rise to do it too. that is how the rise of esports will come about if it does.

More like they give the option of ultra-high quality maps of being sold for money. For example a full-conversion UMS I would personally gladly pay $5.00 for if it was good enough and could get some solid hours out of it. However there is not going to be a mandatory cost for all maps I believe it is up to the discretion of the map publisher, map marketplace is not available yet so who knows for sure.

The fact that there will be 2 expansions coming says to me they will keep up the best stuff up for expansions, instead of supporting game all the way with patches. 1 year from now they will say: ok here are your chatrooms, you can have them if you buy heart of the swarm.
I am of 2 minds. Just like you I am disappointed at the money mongering decisions of Activision Blizzard but on the other hand, postponing the purchase of the game is not going to be easy.

I haven't preordered it yet either, and I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to, and for what region. I know that I will though, as I'm way too invested in this community, and I do enjoy playing the game a lot from beta. I just can't decide which region first -_-;
They really need to add in a license that's worldwide, where you can choose your realm. Most people wouldn't care, but for the people that need it, it would be really really helpful.

As much as I hate b.net 2.0 and activision there is nothing coming out on PC that I would rather play. The only companies making games I like are blizzard, valve, and S2.

The expansions will cost the same amount as other Blizzard expansions. They are not selling them as full games. Stop spreading this nonsense.

I think i'm going to buy it just for the campaighn and stick with bw for online. The campaighn better be long if its a 60$ game. I hardly even know why anyone who isnt a top player would want to switch from bw to sc2 in the first place. People say that BW is a completely established game with no room for inovation but anyone who isnt top notch is just going to go from copying pros strategies in BW to copying pros strategies in sc2. In both games only the top players define how other people should play the game so as long as your not at their level, sc2 might as well be a ten year old game.

Ok this is a blog not a post. So if this were a post, yes it would be considered double in a sense and maybe I would have to learn about the search box. But as it is a blog, I am entitled to write my own say. So please don't flame and troll. Just a waste of space IMO.
and mastermind, will you please source where they said they will be sold at expansion price rather then a retail game price. I am pretty sure I read somewhere all three games with be three separate games and be fully priced. But if you could source that they will be expansion price I'll believe you. And I said that I know this is beta, and as for the balance, I do realize this is balanced for a beta, but what I mean when I say balance and the mechanics of the game, I do not think that this game lives up to the level that they set with SC:BW and other games they have developed. In general, and I also said specifically that when i wrote that it was more opinion than fact i believe, if not i should of, but I dont feel that SC2 is even the same kind of game that SC:BW was. I feel that, right now at least, hopefully it will change when the meta game develops more etc, that it is just one big ball vs another big ball of units. But really my biggest problem really is the bnet 2.0 and the interface. Some people said that chat rooms MAY come in heart of the swarm, but in a thread posted here on TL with a link from a interview from a guy at blizzard, it said that there would be no chat rooms in this game, even after launch. I don't have time to go find it right this second, but I will later tonight or tomorrow if i can.
