I was sitting here looking through the Proleague posts and I came across the SKT vs KHAN thread and it just made me think of all the players in the game I've come to love and hat over the past year I've been watching and playing Starcraft.
First I'd like to start with the players that I really despise, in no particular order.
Bisu - Now I came in when his slump began and never really saw the man that beat Savior. I've only seen this player that everyone I've talked to has hyped up beyond comprehension yet he loses to random newbs always. I mean come on, what S class player loses to the likes of Lomo, Juni, go.go, FBH, Killer, Frozen, Bogus...etc. on a constant basis. I would really like him to pull out of this slump so I can see him in the form he was when he beat Savior. But I seriously doubt that will happen.
Fantasy - No this isn't an SKT hate thread. This is just a gimmicky Terran who barely wins standard games. Don't get me wrong, his gimmik builds are amazing when he pulls them off successfully, but when he plays standard it's like watching a fish on land.
Pure - Being a WeMade fan boy this really kills me but Pure looks like he has so much skill and potential but just forgets stuff. It's really hard to watch sometimes.
Mind - Again being a WeMade fan boy makes this difficult but he just can't play anymore. He always shows flashes of brilliance but then fades away into obscurity again. And his games always seem extremely drawn out for no apparent reason.
Horang2 - Please be good at something not PvP....I mean pretty please.
Killer - Come on does this really need explained? When I watch him play I feel like facepalming him via my monitor.
Now the Players I love
BaBy - Now I first saw this kid in Season 3 of the GOMTV Averatec-Intel Classic. And those games vs JangBi just stood out in my mind as the most awesome thing ever. the way he macroed and controlled his dropships and harassed and attacks and just straight up mind fucked Jangbi was insane. Seeing him today play vs the likes of Stork and Jaedong makes me so happy to see the game still producing such young a spectacular talent.
Stork - I don't like very many protosses but before his current slump Stork was a beast and I loved watching him play. His control, build and push stalling was always so epic. And his mind games were just off the charts.
Canata - really Canata is picked just because he always invents the most awesome cheeses I've ever seen and somehow they work.
Midas - never saw him when he was winning with the FD push, but his current games are amazing and I just love watching him play.
Snow - I didn't really like him when he first came onto the scene but after watching some of his PvT. I swear it's art. His transitions and builds are always so smooth and rarely have I seen him make a blunder in that MU.
DOn't really have a Zerg I would sit down and watch VODs for or would make sure I was up for to watch PL.
Just my opinions really Who do you guys hate/love?

The entire point of Fantasy is that he is no ordinary Joe. He is the brain-child of both SlayerS_Boxer AND iloveoov. This guy is how those genius, yet aging lacking-in mechanics, players can still influence the scene. Fantasy is how the great old minds and masters of Starcraft express themselves in these macro era. Just look at the effect he has had on TvZ. Valkyries, c'mon really?? But he made it work, and now its a standard build. Mech???? Nah, vulture drop? And his TvP, well (I don't really have that much to say) but again, his vulture-drop, multi-task style -> "Fantasy-style" is not what I would call gimicky. Granted, he is much more strategic than mechanically-minded.

So he sniped Flash, is that why? Yes, Snow does have phenomenal PvT (well who doesn't ^^ ask Artosis), so I respect him for that. Let's just hope he becomes like the Red Sniper. No, I am not endorsing match-fixing, but Hwasin went from TvZ gosu to S-class gosu, #2 @ Power Rank.

Mmm yes, I totally agree with you in liking Baby, Snow, and Stork. I'm so sad that Stork is slumping right now, but watching Baby and Snow play makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside ^^

I love Bisu and always will. His match against Savior was the first starleague final I've ever seen and it impressed me - protoss newbie - so much.
As I like to say - I'm bisuxual.

My most loved player is by far FBH. I started playing/watching Broodwar during his peak and I remember watching him take down Jaedong multiple times in some amazing games. His tvz was absolutely brilliant. Plus his personality and ceremonies are awesome and really gave progaming a personality when it seemed like every player gave the same modest interview and acted in the humble manner.
Lately I've been awed by Flashes tvp, and I've become a pretty big fan mostly just cause how dominating he has been in that match up lately.
I'm very excited about Action, his zvt is amazing, and truly a pleasure to watch. I've never seen anyone play Flash so evenly in a late game zvt.
Stork just seems like such an awesome guy, and he is such a strong player. MY first star league final was Stork's and his series against Best was awesome. His late game management is so strong and is really one of the only players who can beat Flash or Jaedong late game. His comeback against modesty was one of the most exciting games I ever watched.
Players I hate, really only Kwanro, just cause I hate his play style.
As you can see I favor really strong late game play, I love the long macro games :D
God I miss FBH :[

I hate fantasy / bisu as much... But I guess that's because I hate everything about SKT1 (Except Midas after his move to wemade)... and thats prolly cus of my teamicon, oh well. I dont know why, but I simply cant like Jangbi, at all. I mean, the guy played with the sickests storms i ever seen, yet how he ends up slumping... Gawd! And then he killed Nada in his come back game! Ewww
And I really LOVE all players on KT except one guy... 8 fucking 15. I mean, just look at this most recent zvp on Judgement day; He made a great sim city, but then fails to place a sunken / OL / Hydra / scourge at his frontdoor and just fails, afterwards he makes some sort of weird 5 hat hydra stuff.
Then there is a lot of guys that I like to watch when they are a roll, but thats soo many.
And one thing. I. Fucking. Love Kim dae jeob Then I, unlike most Flash fanboys, like flash more because he is a part of KT than the opposite, even though I love watching him play, I wouldnt love him as much if he wasnt on KT. I gotta say it, Backho, Killer and Rock is just too funny not too love. I mean, they all (except for rock) can play good, and then epic lolfail the next day. Oh and I praise Shine, Baby and Kwanro for being awesome 3 times a day.

I have my eye on Snow ever since he played that awesome game vs Bisu on Medusa, when Bisu's pvp was still pretty much unbeatable.
I dont really know what happened to Mind thou. When he denied Bisu from his 3rd MSL in a row, I wasnt disappointed even a tiny bit, cause Mind just played magnificent, not only in the finals but in the series vs savior as well. Back then I had the feeling Bisu just lost to "the next big thing" so I was pretty disappointed that Mind couldnt quite repeat his success afterwards. I have no idea where he is lacking
And with UpMagic banned for life, fantasy remains the last terran of his kind. I think his existence in the scene is very refreshing and ppl must enjoy his unique playing style

Threads like these make me feel so old and out of touch with Starcraft.
I don't really like many new progamers out there. They are all just macro monster clones. I miss the old days when progamer games were heavy micro orientated. That's when you'd really see the skill shine though, and the uniqueness.
Good old players like Boxer, Yellow, Chojja. Heck even the non-Korean players were fun to watch. Elky, Grrr..., Smuft.
But that's just my opinion...

My favorite players are free and HiyA. free just amuses me, plus he had that amazing game against Jaedong. And I feel sorry for his pathetic PvP. HiyA really is one of those on-again, off-again players I just like anyway. His TvP is great and some of his TvZ play is unique.
As a KHAN fan I really like Stork and firebathero (dance!) but my favorite is Jangbi, ever since the playoff match last year when he wrecked Calm.
Because Calm is my favorite Zerg. He's innovative and tricksy, and this makes him special.
I'm starting to like fantasy more and more, now that some of the hype from Batoo has died down. I've defended Canata at times as well but he's not consistently good.
Killer is my favorite bad player. No particular reason.
On the other hand, I have a completely burning dislike for EffOrt. I like watching his ZvZ, but on the whole there just isn't anything original about him. Sure he's good, but meh.
I also have never liked Lomo. Even when he's playing decently, he just isn't that great, and when he's bad he's awful.
I also don't like Leta. But here it's not so much the player, but mostly the fault of people who won't shut up about how awesome he is (the same applies to a lesser degree to Sea and Baby).

I love July. The things he did back in the days was nothing short of mind blowing. Sure they got old after everyone else caught up, but when July showed what he was capable of for the first time on television, I couldn't help but stand in awe of his godly skills. To this date no other gamer moves me like July did.
Taking hits with a couple of lurkers and surrounding the marines with mass zerglings with perfection (versus Xellos and Iloveoov). Stacking mutalisks manually, and raping peons and any marines that dare try to protect them (versus Doggi and Iloveoov). Swarming opponents with armies that filled the screen (how did he manage to get them moving so fluidly?) and they all seemed ALIVE (versus Rock). Defending against bunker rushes with impeccable drone micro (versus Boxer) or just punishing the terran with counter (versus Nada and Xellos). Killing wave after wave of GoRush's scourges with mutalisk micromanagement alone (little did I know that this would be a commonly seen scene even between random amateur games just a few years into the future). I could go on and on, but it still wouldn't do justice to how July made the zerg race so amazing to watch.
To this date my most memorable experience in E-Sports is witnessing July's destruction of the seemingly invincible Iloveoov in the Gillette semi-finals. I even remember the commentators going nuts at the end of game five of the series, christening the birth of the perfect zerg that we had all been waiting for. Okay, things have changed a lot since then, but for that one moment, I truly believed that here was a player that was sent down from the heavens to smite all the tormentors of the zerg race.

I used to love FBH, but I am sick and tired of watching him lose in the most sad ways possible. I am this close to losing hope in Bisu.
I hate CJ. I hate how they look. Movie, Snow, Effort, Skyhigh, Hydra, they all look so... bleh...
I also hate OZ except for Jaedong. I can barely call those guys a team.
SKT1 and Khan forever.

Love:
iloveoov - If you play terran or like bw in it's current or recent form you owe this man a lot. I miss watching him play, every time the camera went back to his rally point and you hear the commentators and fans in awe a shiver goes up my spine
BoxeR - Electrifying player win or lose and a GREAT ambassador for the best game ever made. What's not to love?
Midas - Very similar style to oov but he's not as clutch, makes it hard to watch him play when he gets further in leagues and chokes
Fantasy - Very fun style to watch but his TvZ frustrates me to no end, some of his games in bo5 vs big players like Jaedong and GGPlay are fucking art, then he plays in pl and gets rolled by some terrible player -.-
Calm - Really like his unorthodox style that relies on a thinking game. Brain Zerg ftw! I remember when he was absolutely terrible back in like 07 and really can't believe it's the same person.
BeSt - Beautiful macro and distinctive style.
free - His small number micro is insane and PvZ is fun to watch.
Hate:
Jaedong - Every time I think of his 2 hatch muta phase I get annoyed as hell. I respect his ability and skill but something about him just annoys me. His "death stare"... ugh thank god flash put him in his place.
Stork - His large army PvT control is unmatched and I firmly believe he has the best PvT ever. That being said his style is usually pretty boring, he's a choker, he looks like a massive nerd, he's on Khan, makes him easy to hate.
I dislike players that don't have any distinctive style that just play standard every game and hope for the best. I think the best example is Justin, on top of that he kept changing his ID which was stupid and he was one of the ring leaders in the match fixing scandal... yeah fuck you clown.

I have to say now that you guys mentioned it Action and July, and also Iris are crazy fun to watch.
Actions Hive play in ZvT is just surreal
July's play is just overall fun to watch with his aggressiveness and brilliance
The same aggressiveness makes Iris fun to watch as well.
