Eeeesh am I on a SC2 slump. A few days ago I was over 2050 rating, my best ever, and everything was awesome. I felt comfortable in my matches, I was streaming all my games, etc.
Fast forward to this morning and I'm back below 1900! FML! What's wrong with me? I just feel so off! Making dumb decisions, messing up micro, getting lol'd at by mass banelings, and so on. So frustrating and depressing. I don't rage easily, but I was starting to get really upset T_T; Looking at my match history page is just like /wrists. Soooo many losses in a row.
Ughhghhghhh! Anyway my streamers recommended I rank on TL, so here I am.
Any advice/encouragement or whatnot would be awesome guys. Cheer me up!
beta ends soon, all your efforts will be for nothing. that is all. ..
but seriously, that's pretty damn good rating. dunno what advice can be given since its beta...or that you don't have any replays posted. (sorry don't really watch sc2 streams, just play it =P)
stop thinking you are good at starcraft and just learn from your losses. I think a lot of people think they are way better than they are so they get really mad when they lose. No one cares about how many points you have or what your record is.
Breaks are silly. Be strong and play even more. Just play faster and smarter. Scout for proxies in your base and around the map with your scouting worker. If you are losing straight up games then you need to play faster and/or slightly alter your build (build more x, less y). Don't lose in the same way twice. Slumps can't last forever!
I don't think taking a break is the key. What you should do is go over your replays in "fast" mode when important things are going on, maybe watch the first person view and check out your multi task. Are you constantly building out of your racks? Are you making sure all your mineral patches are saturated, are you expanding, pushing, upgrading? Is your money being kept down? After you find out some things to work on, do one at a time, play custom games if its not working out on the ladder. Build more racks or factories if you're queuing up.
You're a good player, you'll turn this around, just try to examine whats up. I'm feeling your pain, i already told you once I got moved up to gold its been literally 5-6 straight games of 4 pools, proxy 2 gates etc.
For me, when I start losing a series of games, continually playing does not help at all. Usually, there's something up with my mental state so playing a game that demands constant decision making does now help my state. Some days I'm just in a lazy mental state or my head's not clear...I just take a break and I usually start playing better afterwards.
Stop playing and do other things for a bit. Get the "Day[9] chemicals" out of your system and play again when you feel like it.
@kerpal playing a lot is fine but if you start getting negative momentum you start doing silly things for no real reason. It's the opposite when you have positive momentum. When I was on like a 15-0 streak I was doing strategies that were pretty good almost without thinking and i've never done them before!
Yeah usually I just stop playing for a day or two and when I come back my first game is always like spot on, and then I go downhill from there.
Makes for really weird gaming times as most people I know need to "warm up" first before they peak. I seem to play my best right off the bat for some reason.
And no, not trying to brag or say how fuckin' awesome I am, just bummed that I feel like I'm playing stupidly. Maybe I'm playing the same and I'm just being a big dodo bird but keep having situations where I am just like "oh god why did I do that?" Quite BM on my part, lol.
Also, if you're serious about laddering I suggest playing a warm-up match in a custom game with a practice partner or some random player...it helps you warm up your hands and head and gives you an idea of how well you're playing that day. It's really impossible for me to gauge how well I do on some days without playing a pilot game.
And of course, it gets harder to climb the ladder once you get up high enough so it never hurts to take a break for a day and let your rested points pile up!
When you start worrying about your rank/points, that's when you really start to lose your cool. You care so much you put undue pressure on yourself. And every loss fills your veins with nerdrage juice, which clouds your thinking even more and you lose more.
You are good enough not to need any random advice, what were you, B on iccup? It only seems that you are overly competitive, which is a good thing, just need to tame yourself once in a while. It's same thing as "tilt", you are just trying to play more but you keep losing, because your mind isn't sharp at the moment and you are thinking a lot about the previous game. Plus you are constantly streaming which adds to the suspense. Smokers have this amazing way to flush their mind by going outside and smoking a cig for a minute or two, which is a great boost psychologically. You can probably do similar things like drinking a cup of tea while staring into nowhere, I don't know lol. Good luck, you are the real deal, probably the best female rts gamer outside korea.
