So I've started playing Sc2 3 days ago. I don't have a key but my friend allowed me to use his. I planned on checking things out while being bored, never really expected to get into beta, but it turned out that the game was a lot of fun. It feels a lot like bw, maybe because I play zerg.

Long story short, I heard someone mention 14 pool (either one of the casts or just a post somewhere) and that's all I've been doing ever since. I did try 12 hatch but it seems very vulnerable vs early bunker, figured I'd wait until someone else experiments with it.

I'm not going to ask about ZvZ, seems pretty straight-forward. Even when I lose I can see where to improve (still not too sure about vsing fast banelings though).

My main concern was ZvT. Can you guys give me a good BO vs fast banshee and some of its follow-ups? (for instance, one guy went banshee, I defended decently with mutas, he made 6 vikings). Something that works. Also, what's the best way to stop multiple hellions? 1 is fine, it just dies to a queen eventually. Do you scout T base with an ovie to find out what he's doing? How possible is it to predict banshee if he hides his starports?

ZvP has it's own banshee and it's a void ray. Same question - how do you scout it? Sac an ovie? Notice double gas? I'd like to know what works for you. If I'm rushing lair and he comes out with a ground army I'm pretty much doomed.

Should be enough questions for now, I hope you can help a fellow zerg out.

Uh-oh I'm an idiot. These questions should probably go into Sc2 strategy section. Maybe a good mod can move this thread there? T_T Unless I get an answer here!

12 hatch is pointless.. Don't do 12 hatch.

Most BW build orders won't transfer over very well unless you tweak the numbers and stuff. Once you play around 20-50 games you start to get really basic a feel of the early game timings. Try checking out Liquipedia, there's a couple Zerg builds in there.

I know you aren't asking about ZvZ, but I just want to emphasize: roaches. Some maps are more viable for speedling play into mutas, but I really find it a lot more safe to just mass roaches. Spore colonies and hydras eat mutas alive in SC2 anyways.

I like to use hydras to stop banshees. With the range upgrade, they have equal range. I think it's always worth it to sacrifice an overlord to scout their tech.

15pool 16hatch works in all three matchups. I'd just practice that for starters (it's pretty much what IdrA does every single game).

I can probably squeeze hydras out in time without too many losses vs banshee but banshees obliterate small amounts of hydras.. If T went dual starport and made 4 banshees (pretty common scenario) - I will need a decent amount of units to vs that. It doesn't help that when banshees will be shooting everything down in my main my hydras will pop out clumped up and disoriented, not the neatest counter. Let's say i stick to hydras anyways, do you gas right after taking that expo before first ovie pops? It feels good to take that gas or at least to do a gas trick, because you're at 18/18 with 2 lings making (can order 4 before ovie is done or get another drone).

Hydras feel super good vs void rays, because you can get them out faster than mutas and they do well on that battlefield.

Yes, to the comment about overlord. I agree, it should be done, but what good T would place their starports somewhere obvious for me to scout them? Possibly I will sac an ovie for nothing! I know I should do it regardless but I was hoping there's something solid to rely on.

I do that, 15 pool is the same as 14 essentially, probably gives you an extra second on that drone timing. Sometimes when it's close spots I don't want to risk it and just do 14 (probably doesn't matter). I'm really trusting this BO because it feels right everywhere.
