Congrats, but realize that anyone who isn't completely terrible is in platinum right now, or is completely dominating in gold and going to be promoted soon. Make it up to 1400 ELO and you'll start playing some decent people
Enjoy beta and don't nerd rage too much when you lose to stupid cheeses!

Nice~
Who's in your division? Screenshot the leaderboard or something.

Congrats!
I also got a key from TL yesterday. I got destroyed in my placements 1:4 and got placed into... copper. The worst league. I almost feel like I've let TL down

Congrats! Keep us updated on the awesome learning experience.

Congrats man! :D :D :D
Platinum is pretty hard to get to. You can end up paired vs some pretty sick people by random in those placement matches : ]

congratulations! That mindset always helps!

Congrats. the platinum icon looks cool. :D My router dced on me in 2/5 of my placement matches. -.-

does anyone know how many ppl (%) in plat, gold, silver etc.. I want to know what shape is the pyramid b.net ladder produces. As we know iccup had a ridiculous sharp top... like 50% D, 40%C, 8% B and 2% A or something like that. How does it break down for the current system?
I feel like if you can make it to C- on iccup, you can easily get to plat with sc2. 5placement matches being such a low number there is some luck in that too..

there appears to be approximately 3000+ platinum players with about 40ish divisions. i know there's at least 89 gold divisions, so assuming that the number of divisions and players doubles each time you go down a metal league, you get: plat 3k gold 6k silver 12k bronze 24k copper 48k
you get 93k overall players on the US server, and 3k/93k = .03 or 3% of the battle.net population in platinum. at least 90k+ beta keys on US server sounds vaguely reasonable to me. but even being in platinum there's a huge spread of skill. don't take these numbers for anything other than a very, very rough guesstimate.
i think being in platinum is more like being a solid D/D+ on iccup with a little bit of luck in actually getting into plat, and less than top 8 or top 16 gold and down is more like the casual battlenetters.
having about 1400 points places you at about 800 out of 3000 overall, going by starcraftrankings.com. so having less than 1400 points places you in the lower 75%. 1200 points is 1500/3000, or the 50%. so assuming that 1000-1200 is the D to D+ range, you can kinda extrapolate the equivalent of the iccup ranking by points with 2000+ being A-rank going by 300 points for every letter rank.

hahahah "cant respond cuz of imminent 500th post"
Congrats though! ur now platinum certified! ^^

I just made plat too. ^_^
Figured I'd better brag as I'm probably at the highest rank I'll be for a looooong time. Placed into Silver, bumped from 1 Silver to ~30 Gold. Bumped from 11 Gold to 11 Plat. Currently 10 Plat, pretty psyched. I'll lose it when the rest of my new div starts playing though.

Rank means nothing guys, it's the points that matters. Being rank 10 in Platinum isn't hard at all depending on your division. My Protoss that I haven't touched in days is still top 10 because the division it's in sucks, is relatively new, meaning it has low points. Like mentioned, when you hit around 1400-1500 points you will start playing decent opponents.
Getting top 10 in platinum when ranked 1 player has 1300 points is hardly something you can brag about or even feel good about, just throwing that out there.
