[Laptop help!] Toasted Graphics Card on my Laptop

Chrispy Canada5878 Posts April 04 2010 02:39 GMT #1 Help to all the wizards of TL! So, my laptop is an old Acer Aspire 5670 with Radeon Mobility X1600 as its graphics card. It started with a few pixels on my screen, then it progressed to medium sized spots of black here and there until eventually I got vertical green lines running all across my screen. So I shut down, restarted and they were still there. I disabled my graphics card in device manager and the green lines are gone and everything looks normal. I tried to see if it would work if I just restarted again but there are still tons of little flickering black/green pixels all over my screen . My external monitor gets all the green lines too. So my question: Is there anything I can do to get my graphics card working again? Maybe there's dust or something? Thanks for your help! Chrispy Canada5878 Posts April 04 2010 04:12 GMT #7 Yeah when I disable ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1600 under display adapters everything looks normal and performs fine. @Tenryu, There are no results found for my OS (Windows Vista) I think I might just do a desperation reformat and go back to XP, which has the drivers supported.

Tenryu United States565 Posts April 04 2010 04:24 GMT #9 Pretty sure u can find some drivers for it, ill give it a try in couple mins Hmm googled it, apparently some1 said they used the desktop one from ati.com with the ati mobility modder http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php You can read about it here, ive never used it so i cant really give u anymore info bout it. That link above seems to have explained it pretty well though. Also it might be ur shit is just getting a bit old like Frag said, but it shouldnt hurt to try and reinstall new updated drivers.
