Though I do feel your pain, must be very fucking annoying. Still, the answer is get buddies and play with buddies rather than random kids.

If you just kick people's asses all day long, you'll eventually get respect. Look at IdrA - probably one of the most rude, obnoxious human beings I've ever been around but he's got my respect because he's fucking awesome.

And I'm sorry I can't say I buy the story about not wanting attention when you join a game you KNOW is being streamed and you 'hop on vent'. I could easily be wrong, but it seems you like attention on some level, but were just disappointed when the attention you did get weren't the type you were hoping for. You act like you want the guys to treat you like one of them.. Well, newsflash, to treat you like a guy, you need to be a guy... or a good old friend who's been around forever. Unknown females are automatically treated as potential mates by the subconscious, so your best option is to pretend to be a man until you feel the people are normal and won't act like idiots or something. I dunno.

I dunno. Ouch. You ever stream games by any chance? Do you bother making a conscious decision about how people are going to react to you? Here I thought I was going to ask a friend if he wanted to 2's without loading up SC2 which consumes 95% of my poor laptop's resources.

Think of something you do that is almost exclusively participated in by girls. How do you react to one of the rare guys who participate? Do you act different? In the case of how guys react, we act like idiots, regardless of the activity..... In a lot of ways, niteReloaded is right. Without being a guy, or a good friend, you will not get treated the same. It sucks, but it is caused by the immaturity of many of the people who participate in the gaming culture, as well as the subconscious factor mentioned..... I have no doubt that it is frustrating. And stupid. And you should not have to worry about it. So dont worry about it. You will probably never meet them face to face, and what they say will not come back to haunt you, so what does their opinion mean to you? The people who actually know you are the ones that matter.

honestly though, people care whether you're a girl or not because, obviously, guys are attracted to a girl who shares common interests with them. For a hardcore gamer, thats not easy, because a large part of their interests lie in games, and other internet stuff, which normally girls dont go for, because its stigmatized by the rest of their gender, and thus they grow up thinking its 'stupid'. I've actually looked into this a lot and they dont PRETEND not to like games even if they do, they dont like them even if they give it a shot at playing them, because they've been conditioned so long to think that games are in fact, silly and childish. thus, its as rare to find a girl who likes vidya as it is to find a guy whos into generic girl stuff (whos straight) Also, to find a hardcore RTS gamer girl is surprising because in general, it seems girls arent really that great at rts. I have a girlfriend who has been playing all sorts of games since a young age, and even a lot of rts, starting from C&C (all of em) up to red alert 3 and the like, and she plays wow, guild wars, lineage 2, and all sorts of console shooters, and gh you cant really say shes an attention whore, in all mmo's she makes male chars, and she doesnt speak on xbox live, noone really knows shes a chick on the internet, and shes REALLY good at all the games she plays, EXCEPT the rts's. she can play any song 90+ % expert on gh, so she has relatively fast fingers she can pvp like a beast in all mmo's and is pretty damn good at shooters, she has a pretty good mind but she just cant handle rts at a competetive level at all. I've been trying to teach her SC for a year now, and she is enthusiastic about learning, practices, and listens to what i say, we watch VODs together, i even made an FPVOD site to help her out (which i later posted on teamliquid too) but she cant get above CPU level. I've seen this in other girls too (two others to be precise, i dont know many gamer chicks) they are interested in rts they like how it looks but they simply cant play it competetively, even though they want to, whereas they can play REALLY well at fighters/shooters i honestly have no idea why.

Go back to your strategy of ignoring these people. When you stop giving them the time of day they suddenly become a lot easier to deal with. Lots of them (tho maybe not all) will get bored if you don't pay any attention to them. I know that sounds like cliche advice, but it's true. That said, all stereotypes about female gamers are pretty much bullshit. You will notice what you look for, but if you're a normal person who isn't some vore comic reading objectifying jackoff, you'll notice most girls you meet that play games are basically normal. If you only looked for male gamers who are needy antisocial retards that watch so much porn they get off on traps, then you'd probably think gaming in general was a hobby only freak's enjoy. + Show Spoiler + I may or may not be pointing fingers at a particular someone who has a strange sense of entitlement

Hmmm.. if I were the type of person who writes a thread like this, which clearly shows that you care A LOT what other people think of you, then I would probably have a thought that says "whoa I'm about to enter a stream watched by hundreds of people" before I actually join, which effectively makes you guilty of attention whoring =) Also, the fact that these comments about appearance hit the nerve is a clear indicator that you have some insecurities about it, which you should just shake off, you don't look that bad judging by the profile pic. Don't take me too seriously, I just like playing the mentalist role.
