hello~~ppl...I'm sitting here at work and have a lot of free time. I've never been good at shopping. I usually go to the biggest store/mall in town and get w/e I need - never pay much attention to prices nor compare any products...I would just walk in and grab what i came for and walk out (after pay)
lately I've been wanting to dress a bit more decent and professional (at work/ out party). All i wear when i work is khakis/dress pants and buttom up shirts of some sort. And when I go out I wear jeans from maybe old navy and button up shirts...
any ideas to improve dress code?
lol :p

im korean about 6' and skinny if that matters...

edit: pictures of good dresscode would be appreciated :D

I ususally get my jeans from anchor blue, you just missed their sale though I think. Jeans were 20-25$ bucks and t shirts were like 6$

i dunno if you have active where you live http://www.activerideshop.com/ but they have lots of good shit
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

If the price really doesn't matter to you, then maybe check out some places in the mall like:

Nordstrom
Loehmann's

Or if you're looking to 'dress up'

Then check out places like:
Rock & Republic
Lacoste
Express
Buckler
Scotch & Soda

invest in at least one pair of nice jeans, especially if you are skinny. Look online for APC, nudies, etc. and read up on raw denim, or get some dark pairs of plain color (no fake-fading) levi's if you're cheap (501,514, or 511, probably 511 if you're tall/skinny).

find some cheap ass dress shirts for clubbing/parties/etc if you don't already have them. brand doesn't really matter. Just make sure it fits well and is a solid, dark color that is relatively neutral and has no designs on it. If it fits you properly, it will look good (make sure shoulder seams fall square over your shoulders, and make sure fabric under your armpits are not too loose).

get a watch if you don't have one already. make it neutral and understated, unless you can afford an expensive brand. all silver, or black band with plain face only. timex is a good brand for cheap watches

for shoes, it really depends on your lifestyle and personal preference, but if you are tall and skinny I would recommend slimmer shoes like oxfords, canvas shoes, etc.

for everything else, basically just make sure things fit well. For suits, buy CHEAP ASS suits in standard colors (i'm talking like walmart/etc.) and get them tailored to fit by a professional tailor, this will save you a ton of money and you'll look really good.

The only things that really matter with fashion right now are fit and colors. You probably don't want to fuck around with colors, so just worry about fit.

For dress shirts you can try: http://www.paulfredrick.com/. What I love is their "non iron" line - it is simply the best if you're like me and hate ironing anything. Also, they have a "trim-fit" cut, which helps if you are thinner than average. If you catch some sales the prices are good too.

I don't really shop online for clothes but afaik for men's clothing bananarepublic isn't too bad. I can't say from experience though as I've never really used it; just heard multiple people recommend it to others.

Wangsta has got it right (although I'm not sure about Walmart suits ). A lot of people underestimate the difference a tailor can make. A blazer from a cheap store that's been tailored will most likely look better than a mid-range expensive one out of the shelf.

You can get some decent raw denim from Marc by Marc Jacobs for around $100

I won't give you advice on where, since I'm short and thus buy clothes for short people. I'll just say that right now is a great time to go out and buy clothes because it is the end of the season.

A lot of 50%~ off sales and stuff, so you should go before everything good sells.

Edit:Actually...

yesstyle.com

Ships from HK/China/Japan/KOREA(!), I got a lot of 20$ dress shirts and pants from there and got them tailored. They come in tall sizes because the lines are designed for models for the most part. I wear them when I perform(I'm music performance major so this is often) and they look great. I got a great knee length coat for 60$ which would have been in the hundreds here.

Macy's / Bloomingdale's

Most shit you need can be found at Gap, H&M.

My dealer is my best friend, and we don't even chill.

Disclaimer: This is going to be somewhat UK based but I'm sure you can get the stuff in America.

Like some poster said above: Raw denim. Always try them out and check the fit before purchasing ... take them off and then try again.

You can normally get the "asian" stuff from yesstyle and the fit should be right if you check your sizings properly. For city, I'd recommend going with some dark raw denim skinnies/slims (though there's a large overlap within most asian brands anyways) and a decent peacoat for the cold (the ones with epaulettes are pretty dank).
Disclaimer: Yesstyle can sometimes have Hong Kong syndrome.

Dress shirts you can buy pretty much anywhere and you can buy any cheap ones since if you can't tell the difference, most people won't either.

Shoes, you can go casual street trainers (probably some pure white Nike AF1s) or smart oxford/brogues. There are some places online which do nice italian handmade shoes. Feels good man.

Keeping a stash of stock clothing is pretty useful. For smarter, I'd recommend plain polos (American Apparell, Topman, Uniqlo).

Knits: Burton,Zara,H&M,Uniqlo

(Most of these should work in almost any country; and if not, source what you want and it'll probably be stocked somewhere near you in another store).

Speaking of yesstyle:
Was hoping to pick up this.
Super cheap for what it is (which may or may not be a bad thing.

"casual smart" dinner some time ago.

Going out clothing from tonight. Deemed smart enough to get into most places. Should replace shoes with something formal but I love AF1s too much.

Fellow asianbro who dresses nicely.

Hope that helped.

PS: Fucked up on links. Tried sorting it out. Doesn't work.
