I got this cell phone (droid) and new phone number a couple of months ago. I have since gotten one or two wrong numbers which is no shocker since I'm guessing my phone number used to belong to someone else. I also signed up for no text plan which means I pay .20 per text.
A few days ago I got a text from a number I did not recognize (area code apparently is Orlando), saying something like "Don't text and drive, pass this on to all your friends." I just ignored it.
Yesterday morning I get a text wishing me a happy birthday from the same number (it isn't my birthday as my tl account will verify). Then a few hours later I got a call from them. I picked it up and there was some really strange singing of happy birthday (maybe a recording) followed by some girl saying a name with an upward inflection, trying to see if the person she was wishing a happy birthday to was still on the phone. So after listening to 30 seconds of madness and respond "I think you have the wrong number" and she pauses a bit and then hang up. So far this isn't all that odd.
A few minutes later I check the mail, and there's a card to my address except nobody lives here by the name it's made out to. Inside is a birthday card. The return address is in Brooklyn, NY.
I'm 99% sure it's a pure coincidence that these both happened on the same day, but the timing is just unreal...
How could these be connected?
edit: oh yeah and someone told me you don't pay for received texts unless you actually read them. Is this true?
