You could be Happy Snow Patrol
I immediately reach for the off button whenever I hear this song. It's incredibly painful to hear.
I've had a lot of girlfriends. There was a point where I had almost a new one every month. But none of them compare (And God knows I've looked and tried) to my only one true love. Not even close. I consider myself lucky because I know that not many people will experience
a love as intense as we did. I'm talking lightning to the heart, can't eat, can't sleep; feelings so intense it feels almost like your DYING. Love is about how much you're willing to give to the other person and vice versa.
We poured our souls into each another. I would catch whatever sickness she had just so we could be together for the day. Well, whatever sickness EXCEPT for the aids that eventually robbed her from my life. Just kidding!
The happiest moments in life were spent with her. We ended up on seperate faces of the planet, and our relationship failed spectacularly. And this song
is a sickening reminder of all this.

Empire State of Mind by Jay Z
In New York...Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do
This was my anthem when I was living in LA. Listening to this song always gave me an incredible sense of possibility. I think if you're new in a city, starting a new chapter in your life, or if you simply have that sheen of hope in your eyes then this song will speak to you.

In my life by the Beatles
There are places I remember, all my life though some have changed....... All these places have there moments, with lovers and friends, I still can recall some are dead and some are living, in my life I've loved them all. But of all these friends and lovers there's no one, compares with you...... I know I'll often stop and think about them, in my life I love you more.
Like all the best Beatles songs this one stirs up deep feelings of nostalgia. When I listen to it, a flood of emotions hits me. I not only think about the love of my life, but all of my friends and girlfriends that I have had. The moments we shared together. The jokes that only they and I understood. And it makes me wonder where they are now, and maybe, if they think of me from time to time.

Dream on - Aerosmith
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
This mostly makes me want to sing karoke on a daily basis. It reminds me of my own mortality, and that I should sing with Steven Tyler, if only for today.

A Kaelisdcope of mathematics by James Horner
This one is almost completely instrumental. And it's certainly different from the other songs on my list. A lot of my personal heroes are matehmaticians, physicists and inventors, and I'd like to be one someday. This song captures the thrill of creation and the grandeur in plumbing the mind of God perfectly.

Old friends by simon and garfunkel
Old friends.... Old riends.... Sat on the park bench like bookends...........Old friends, winter companions the old men,Lost in their overcoats waiting for the sun, sounds of the city sifting through trees settles like dust, on the shoulders, of the old men. Can you imagine us years from today, sharing a park bench quietly? how terribly strange... to be 70. Old friends...memory brushes the same years, silently sharing the same fears.
This song makes me teary eyed. I'm put into the shoes of these two old men. After alls said and done, here we are, just me and him. What have I done in my life? Has it been enough? What kind of regrets do I have?

Wouldn't it be Loverly?
Someone's 'ead restin' on my knee,
Warm an' tender as 'e can be,
Who takes good care of me.
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?
Warm an' tender as 'e can be,
Who takes good care of me.
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?
This song sort of reminds me of "My favourite things" from the Sound of Music. The very best things in life are simple and mundane. Sometimes I crave for a normal and relaxed life-- Having a job I love, having a wife and kids to come home to, having a many hobbies to do,
and appreciating what I have, and all the little things that make me happy.

Johnny Cash Hurt
Another song that puts me into the shoes of an old man. My bones are practically dust, I'm a shadow of my former self, I'm alone. I wonder if I lived the best life I possibly could have lived or whether certain regrets still haunt me to this day. The most important people in
my life have died. And soon I will die. And everyone who's ever known me will also die and it'll be like I never existed.
