Sup Teamliquid!
Whenever I look over the latest hilarious bans in the Automated Ban List, I see familiar names. People with lots of posts too. Experienced site members really should know better, but get temp bans for avoidable things like trolling, insulting people, racism, spoiling games etc.
Then I ask myself: Am I the only one who never got banned?
TL's strict common sense/postcount based moderation may seem unfair at times, but actually it isn't and bans are generally well-deserved. The rules are really easy to follow, and it surprises me how even experienced posters sometimes wack out.
Now my question is this: How well-behaved are you? How long have you (non-staff) guys survived without moderator intervention? Who trumps my 1420 posts without a temp ban or even a warning?

I've had 2x two day bans.
One for posting a ridiculously big image in an SPL thread when I was at like...50 posts or something, and the other time because someone (I forget who) said something so ignorant about a progamer because he was a bitter fanboy I said, "wow...fuck you" and got banned for that.
But nothing serious.
Honestly, TL is one of the few forums I post on regularly, and I wouldn't even have started if the mod group wasn't so amazing. I like how strict they are, and how they don't let anyone slide. It keeps the riff raff out and quality up, but most importantly it keeps the TeamLiquid reputation up and makes us all proud to be members.

My posting quality has gotten worse in the last few years. I still make decent strat forum posts from time to time and occasionally contribute to general but I also tend to post the first thing that comes to my head more. Never been properly banned. One 30 minute ban by Rekrul for making an icc blog after he said not to but it got reversed and one requested ban.

I got temp banned once i even remember who it was from, Twisted, but i dont remember why

I got warned by fakesteve twice I think actually. Once through the official warning system for arguing when the subject was a derail he told people not to continue and once for all the saddles lols.

i hide in the dota thread. some how only one person has been banned in that thread and that was due to like two pages of one word spamming

being well-behaved on a forum (where you can remain anonymous to those around you) is a good characteristic to have. those who are well-behaved here are probably well-behaved (or at least better behaved) in real life
and i've never been warned or banned.

I prefer completely unmoderated forums, as they generally lead to better entertainment (which is the only reason I visit forums). However, I've never been banned from this site (though I have from many others, including year long bans for things not ban-worthy).

I think the moderation on TL is very reasonable. Unless you post very tasteless stuff, you can have fun just fine. Foul language is very much tolerated, and fuck, I fucking like that, bitch. Only when you behave like an ass or go far beyond the borders of good taste are you banned, and I don't like to see that anyway. The average post quality around here is far higher than on most other forums, apart from the occasional overused meme or Idra drama.
I find it funny how TL is perceived on GosuGamers.net. Half their community consists of kids who despise TL's "unfairness" because they misbehaved and got banned here, and now they go on shitting all over GG.net's poorly moderated forums with their crappy posts.

I havent been warned or banned yet.
But lately I have been posting a fucking lot (140 posts this week) and I feel like I've been a bit of a dick in many of those posts ^^ (although I'm always right of course)

Never banned or warned and I've been here since 2003 posting every day. I mainly post when I have something to say so I guess that have helped a bit.
EDIT:Havent posted much for the last couple of days since I have frostbite on a few of my fingers and it is hard to write. Anyway 8+ post/week average.

I often restrain myself from posting if I think it might be seen as ban-worthy. I also rather read then post, hence the lower post count.

I think that if you're just a generally considerate person it's pretty hard to get banned. People only get banned for a few reasons on TL:
-They're assholes
-They're both stupid, and antagonistic (but not just stupid)
-FakeSteve see's someone post a 4chan meme
-They continually make posts no one would ever need to read
Basically if you always ask yourself 'what will other people gain from reading my post?' before posting, you'll become a very good poster. Another good question to ask yourself is "Do I really need to share this information with the rest of the world?" But that's going beyond the call of duty. If people did that we wouldn't see threads that are made for the sake of making a thread... ie threads that are just a poll, or threads that are just a news story.
Whenever I feel disappointed in the quality of posting of users I just try to increase my own quality of posting and hope someone gets competitive.
EDIT: lol mod notes... I don't think it'd be that hard to guess what mine are T.T Somewhere along the lines of 'complete dumbass, but not antagonistic'

I do not post very frequently, hence why my low post count. However, during the time of my stay, I have expressed rather controversial opinions regarding the proscene as well as gotten involved into heated debates with some of the more prominent members of TL.
In spite of this, however, I have yet to incur any sort of disciplinary action.

I've been temp banned by Fakesteve and warned twice by Plexa.
I made it 3000 or so posts without any problems though. I was banned for an anti-semetic remark, warned once for porn, again for trolling. Besides my writing, I'm a pretty bad poster so I'm trying to fix that a bit.

Got two warmings though:
One for posting "first" in a thread and another for saying to a whiny terran to switch to protoss in the strategy forum.
I think it was Hot_Bid and Manifesto.
I got banned multiple times for flames and trolling on a French forum though but well it is full of idiots ( at least the General section ), moderation is terrible and trolling is just too fun when you are using your main language.
I think i respect and behave properly on TL because Mods are fair and have high standards also we all share the same hobby. When someome is an idiot or an asshole here he always get banned soon or later ( sup Ganfei lol ) so you don't have to flame him or countertroll.

Never been warned or banned... I think on a few occasions, a thread that I was actively posting in was locked due to other individuals being bricks. But that's about the extent of that.

But EvilTelitubby (or whatever) banned me for 2 days, too. Seemed unwarranted. Maybe a "We don't need your help" would have been fine, but there was no warning, didn't really do anything wrong *shrugs*

I'm not even sure I should post here haha, but I've probably had close to 8-10 accounts on TL throughout the years. However, I was a dumbass back then and got rightfully banned. I even got permabanned but like 1,5 years later I moved, got a new ISP and decided I would give it a new chance. What became of that is JensOfSweden, which started out alright but ended in retardedness.
Now that I've turned 30 I pick my battles and don't write stupid shit anymore. I respect the standard that TL holds and the rules they enforce regarding posting, and I'm glad that they do.
Most mods seem to be great guys btw.

A few reasons went into that decision:
1) "Quoted for future ban" really comes off as backseat moderating. As everyone figures out pretty quickly, we generally don't like that, and TBH, we DO catch a lot of things on our own and take care of business pretty quickly IMO.
2) Whether someone posted something bannable or not, by quoting them, you are allowing the derailment of the thread to continue. Again, we will take out the trash.
3) We can read edited posts.
4) There were numerous people in that live report thread iirc all derailing it... I wanted to keep everything on topic. People should know better at this point.

3-4 warnings, a 2-day temp ban, and like 2-3 closed threads. Mostly by ET, only 1 closed thread by Chill and 1 warning by Mani I believe.
