A Really Simple Calendar Idea

Next time you’re near me, you should be able to tell what the season is by means of a simple barometer. First, one need simply offer me a cup of tea, or other tasty beverage. Then, convince me that for one reason or another I should be the one who makes or retrieves that beverage.

Direct me to your cupboards and fridge, allowing me to retrieve all of the necessary components on my own.

If I return as in figure 1 it is not Christmas and you don’t need to panic.

This is my favourite mug, I drink from it all the time, even though it's too small for tea really.

If, however, I return to you as in figure 2 you would do well to have already begun shopping.

I don't even make a decision, I just end up drinking from this one during the wintertime...

Due to budget cuts, that completes today’s blog post. If I’ve been paid tomorrow and am feeling suitably invigorated I’ll try to get something a little more substantial up for you guys

I've thought of this idea before. However, in my tests all I had in my cupboard was red mugs with white reindeer. For several weeks, I attempted to ascertain the date through your method and was panicked on a daily basis by the thought that I'd yet to begin my christmas shopping. Only after spending thousands of dollars on unnecessary christmas presents over this time did I realize that there is a flaw in this idea. Just thought you might appreciate this insight before you take it to market.

Ah... y'see, I had worried about the state that such a malfunction might well come back to bite me. As such, I've stocked up on a plurality of mugs.

Unfortunately, I hadn't put enough faith in the mug-calendar, and when I saw that there was still a Christmas tree in a nearby shop assumed that I had simply missed the obvious signs. I immediately bought a plurality of gifts.

It is, I'm told, not going to be Christmas again for a while.
