Here's what I looked like on September 25th, 1 day after my accident.
I blogged about it originally here: linky.
Now, the broken part is all filled in with new bone.
Today, my orthopedist told me that I'm mostly healed now, and can resume normal activity. I've been itching for some real exercise for the entire time I've been injured - it's been an entire 4 months since I was able to do more than walk or move on crutches.
I got back from my first run just a few minutes ago. To be honest, it was both awesome and painful. Since childhood, athleticism has been one of my fortes. I enjoyed playing tag, which led into cross-country and track, then badminton and kickboxing(<- which caused my broken bone). I'm probably slower now than I was in elementary school, but it doesn't matter. I'll gain it all back soon enough ^_^. Life is pretty good.
(warning: incoming random tangents about S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Fallout 3, and of course...bitches)
Let me cut to the chase: Stalker:SoC is an awesome game. I got it off of steam a week ago, and I've been loving it. It has a gritty, dirty feel so uncommon in games these days, though I'm mostly comparing it to Fallout 3. I didn't realize it at the time, but I bought two games about nuclear aftermath at once. Stalker is better though, and oh so unforgiving. It's pretty awesome to set a game to normal difficulty, then end up dying in the first mission given to you. You can't take very many bullets in this game, especially in the beginning. To make matters worse, you don't even have that many bullets to shoot back with. Furthermore, your starting weapon is extremely inaccurate unless you are shoving it down the enemies throat. The military is a huge problem at first too. When I encountered my first military unit, all I had was a pistol and a sawn-off shotgun; they, on the other hand, had AK-47s. I managed to kill them all, but only by ambushing them from above to get easy headshots. Even after getting an AK things were tough, since everyone else has automatic rifles. As I mentioned earlier, ammunition is hard to find. It also weighs you down if you carry a lot of it. No zero weight ammo in this game. As if things couldn't be any worse, few guns use the same ammo, so finding the kind you need(especially if you are using a rare weapon) is hard. Maybe I'm being strange, but these features are really cool to me.
(warning: drama alert)
Soooooo, my girlfriend, Ann, lives with a(some) bitch(es). It began last quarter, which was really stressful for Ann, who is the organizer of a major dance competition here in San Diego, as well as taking 21 units(like 7 classes). In light of this, I would often stay late and make dinner for her in the kitchen if she was overloaded with work. Every time I cooked, I did all of our dishes afterwards. Oftentimes, the 3 other girls who lived in the apartment wouldn't do their dishes after eating, so I did them all for them when I was washing me and Ann's stuff. I was sure that I should do them this favor, since I was using their stuff to make my own dinner, even if it was for Ann too, so I wouldn't be a complete freeloader. Occasionally I grab some Windex and wipe down all the counters if they were nasty. I usually stay over at Ann's place 1 weekday too, before our big assignments were due, and stay over on a weekend day. Her apartment mates complained a little that I used their shower too(backstory: when my bone was broken and in a cast, it was way easier to use their apartment shower, since the one in my dorm was too small so I couldn't use it and keep my cast dry. It was either Ann's shower or a spongebath.) once or twice a week. After they did complain, I just stopped using it - it after all was a legitimate request. I thought matters were settled there, but apparently one of her apartment mates has something against me. She complained to Ann's best friend that I "am very quiet, and often do all our dishes for us." Ugh. Not only does she make up some bullshit, she doesn't even tell me directly. I was pretty surprised when Ann told me this...who complains when someone does their dishes for them? To be clear, 2 out of 3 of the girls who live with Ann have boyfriends, and they bring their boyfriends over just like Ann does with me. I really don't understand what is going on here. When I am at their place, I don't make noise, I stay in Ann's room unless I'm cooking, grabbing a drink/snack, or using the bathroom. I can only conclude that she has some sort of secret grudge against me, which she doesn't want to bring to light in truth. Any thoughts on this? Or is she probably just a bitch?
Edit: my new years resolution: my next 10 posts are going to be good to celebrate my 5000th
