GODDAMN fuck..........fuck dude.....my mame32 emulator used to work perfectly (~2 years ago) but ive recently started getting back into it...but fuck. some games, at random, wont work at all. im not talking about the games that are identified as "not working" by the engine..im talking about the games that are identified as working, but that wont load at all in my emulator. its kinda gay because theres a million of versions from 0.XXXX to 0.115...to 0.XXXX..up to 0.136...etc.. and im not sure for which mame version a particular rom (say something i find on rom-world or rom-nation) will be compatible...or if its supposed to be compatible for all versions....also updating versions will sometimes cause some games not to work..
CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND ME A MAME VERSION THAT WORKS PERFECTLY?? (for most games)
one game im really trying to make it work is the original pacman (1980) ....right now im using 0.135 and its good for a few games like most of the Street fighter 2 and Mk (1,2,3,) games + NBA JAM + some others...but i really want my dear pacman to work. right now only ms.pacman (1981) works on it...so that kinda bugs the shit out of me because its not vintage enough T_T
so if anyone has a fool-proof version which will make 99% of games work...or if anyone can make this rom work;

Mame is wonky, I finally got GGPO to work for 3rd Strike and now don't use it. Gl but you're f'd, shit is confusing

Try FBA Shuffle, mayhaps? Works with 3S offline for sure.

That's just the way MAME works, sorry. No magic version that I know of--either update all your ROMs or keep multiple MAME versions to use that run a different subset of your games correctly.
MAME is more finicky than most console emulators because it has to emulate so many different arcade hardware (as the name says).
