Make sure you get the C3 stepping if you want to over clock. Apart from that there is nothing really to be said.

i5 would be a dead socket soon. i9 release will be on 1366, way to douche your fanbois intel.

To be honest, 720BE is more than you need and it costs half the price, upgrade to a 6 core when they come out.

Personally I would get a seasonic PSU. It might costs a little more but I know i'm getting a good product.

I hate your case tho. I've got one and it's loud as a mofo.

Get a Lian-Li and you will thank me.

I also believe WD drives are generally faster than Samsung (esp c black)?

Agreed.

WD has always been good to me

Personal preference is a strong factor with many recommendations (who isn't guilty of this at times), but unless the manufacturer in question has an egregious reputation, there is no need to take one manufacturer over the other when the product I recommended provides comparable performance for less than what WD is offering.
(Here is a translation of a German article on the drive)

Samsung makes excellent hard drives, and frankly the cult-like following WD has is a bit much. Please base reviews more on facts and not reputation. The only reason why I would see someone taking the Black over the F3 would be the warranty, which is in this case 5 vs 3 years. IMO this is not worth the extra $15.

This is an excellent PSU and I second this recommendation.

I have a widescreen monitor and BW doesn't have black boxes on the sides for me. It does look a little stretched though but you get used to it

samsung makes excellent drives. F3 have the best sequential speed out of all vendors.

It's not like any VENDOR is bad or anything. Even Hitachi, who is infamous for their deathstar drives have shaped up.

If you want speed, only velociraptor or SSD is really worth the money, everything else is just fluff.
Some drive is better than others but the speed difference is hardly noticeable and they are all the same price anyway. No need to stress it, just get some thing cheap and upgrade to SSD when they mature.

Sad to see seasonic not getting any love here

I rather play with the black bars instead of the stretch. The goons look weird stretched

There are two qualities of a hard drive. One is sequential write, one is random access speed.

WD is faster on random access but inferior in sequential. Samsung are quieter as well.

I would pick a small drive with faster access and pick a good sequential for data storage.

not that there is anything particularly wrong with that harddrive but the wd caviar blue 640gb has proven to be the go to drive around that price range

also, know that the c3 stepping 955 is known to overclock better even though it might be a bit more expensive. just something to consider.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808&cm_re=phenom_ii_x4_955-_-19-103-808-_-Product

also the amps on the 12V rails for that power supply seem pretty low. i'm no expert on the subject though.

oh and widescreens are pretty standard now. whether you have black bars or not depends on your graphics card settings.

That PSU is fine.

It's a dual 12V rail, meaning it's 18A x 2 for a total of 36A.
