Black on the sides for bw. It all depends on what the acceptable resolutions for the game are.
|
You definitely do not need a 700W PSU unless you want to upgrade to Xfire later on. Everything else looks solid!
As far as compatibility, after a quick look it all looks fine.

Oh, that won't bother me at all, cool!

hmmmm ok, I'll look into a lower W psu. Thanks for the check though, eases my mind more than you can imagine ^^

At this point I see little reason to choose the Phenom over an i-5 with its 8mb L3 cache. The price difference is perhaps $20. That's just me though!

I don't think a Radeon 5770 will give you much bang for your buck, generally anything ATI that's not x8xx is a bit of a warning sign.
I could be wrong here though.

Citizen: motherboards are a bitch! Though if he has the spare money lying around an i5 would be a great idea.
writer22816: Wrong. Atm the 5850 is a great card, but the 5870 is a bit of a waste (lets not get into 5970). The 5770 hits the sweet spot that the 4870 did except with better software support and better power usage. The 5770 is considered for the most part to be one of the most cost effective cards.

Your ram is a little pricey, are you set on that ram? even with increased prices you should be able to find ram for a little cheaper *edit* removed the ram
|
your psu has tons of wattage. get something like 400-500W is very sufficient. but you must pick a good quality one with enough on the 12V rail to satisfy the requirements of the video card. your choice for AMD is meh for me.

im stealin ur rig trumpet

KOF I believe that ram isn't compatible with AM3 boards, and only with socket 1156 (i5/i7 sub 900)
|
and why are you getting 2 sticks of DDR3 RAM?
that ram runs best in triple chnl, so you should get 3 sticks.

triple channel does not work on AM3 boards if I remember correctly.
edit: I think only on i7 :p

touche i bought it for my i5 rig so..it's fine for me lol

As it has been said, psu is overkill, go down to a quality 400-500W model. I find this drive to be a better value than the WD Caviar Black at the 500GB size. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152181 Rest of the build looks really solid.
16 : 9 is becoming the widescreen standard. The best bang for your buck will be in 21" or 23" 1920x1080 monitors. 16:10 is more expensive but they're definitely better monitors unless you plan on watching lots of movies on your computer or something. If you go for a 16:10 monitor, 24" size is optimal (1920x1200).

This might just be personal preference, but I wouldn't trust Samsung as much as WD.
I also believe WD drives are generally faster than Samsung (esp c black)?

WD has always been good to me

Wish I had money for a decent mobo and an i7.

Why would it not be compatible?
Apart from the latency, it would be pretty stupid for the vendor to segment their products this way.
|
Make sure you get the C3 stepping if you want to over clock. Apart from that there is nothing really to be said.
i5 would be a dead socket soon. i9 release will be on 1366, way to douche your fanbois intel.
To be honest, 720BE is more than you need and it costs half the price, upgrade to a 6 core when they come out.
Personally I would get a seasonic PSU. It might costs a little more but I know i'm getting a good product.
I hate your case tho. I've got one and it's loud as a mofo.
Get a Lian-Li and you will thank me.

WD has always been good to me Personal preference is a strong factor with many recommendations (who isn't guilty of this at times), but unless the manufacturer in question has an egregious reputation, there is no need to take one manufacturer over the other when the product I recommended provides comparable performance for less than what WD is offering. (Here is a translation of a German article on the drive)
Samsung makes excellent hard drives, and frankly the cult-like following WD has is a bit much. Please base reviews more on facts and not reputation. The only reason why I would see someone taking the Black over the F3 would be the warranty, which is in this case 5 vs 3 years. IMO this is not worth the extra $15.
This is an excellent PSU and I second this recommendation.

I have a widescreen monitor and BW doesn't have black boxes on the sides for me. It does look a little stretched though but you get used to it

Looks great, you didn't make any mistakes.

samsung makes excellent drives. F3 have the best sequential speed out of all vendors.
It's not like any VENDOR is bad or anything. Even Hitachi, who is infamous for their deathstar drives have shaped up.
If you want speed, only velociraptor or SSD is really worth the money, everything else is just fluff. Some drive is better than others but the speed difference is hardly noticeable and they are all the same price anyway. No need to stress it, just get some thing cheap and upgrade to SSD when they mature.
Sad to see seasonic not getting any love here

I rather play with the black bars instead of the stretch. The goons look weird stretched

There are two qualities of a hard drive. One is sequential write, one is random access speed.
WD is faster on random access but inferior in sequential. Samsung are quieter as well.
I would pick a small drive with faster access and pick a good sequential for data storage.

That PSU is fine.
It's a dual 12V rail, meaning it's 18A x 2 for a total of 36A.
