So today i was talking to a professor at the institute where i do my research, and on his table i noticed a draft of an article with my name on it as a co writer. I'm not directly involved in writing the article, but i'm quoted multiple times and the results presented are all made and processed by me.
Yea i know it might not be a big thing but i feel like my article cherry is about to get popped. :D
For those interrested it's about the role of zinc and cadmium in neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on alzheimer's. To be specific it's an investigation and comparison of the proteins metallothionein 2 and 3 (MT-2 and MT-3) and how they coordinate zinc and cadmium.
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But i'll have to wait a few months to see if it gets published or not.
yeah go me!
In other news: If anyone remember my blog about going to a theme party as a pornstar, my outfit ended up being. Leather vest, leather cap, sunglasses, leather pants (Had 2 pairs of socks in my boxers), and bare chest (With hair painted on) under the leather vest plus i grew my own mustache pretty long. I looked incredibly gay. I might upload a picture in the future..
That's all.

Man, that's awesome if it goes through. I really hope to get a paper published while I'm doing research here, but that will probably never happen.
This is always awesome, especially if it's your first! Good luck!

I like the way the blog segues from getting published because of results in medical science straight into a porn-star themed party.

That's kinda funny, i recently visited the headquarters of "Lundbeck" (Pharmaceutical company specialized in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases), was pretty interesting. Now where are the pics?

Congrats, It is always great to have such recognition by your professor. Hope that it will be published. Journals in your field are very selective I guess

Congratulations!!! But if this gets written up in your local paper or some online news website.... i suggest you use that gay-biker-outfit picture : p

I've been coauthored in one published paper, I can say it's a great feeling. I'm looking at authoring my own paper sometime these holidays. I know how you feel . So easy to use these to brag about in a job interview

Haha not bad. That is one of the upsides of working in a lab I suppose, but it's not something I would do.

I started to work in a lab couple a weeks ago, but I'm probably still years away from my first publication as a (co-)author.
