Well it's kind of a douche thing to do to bail out on your team like that.
How many "Im quitting forever!!!!!" posts do you see? Many players stop playing competitively and on iCCup because of the stress induced and the time needed to have put into it to get to where you want to be. Often players will still play for fun, and if not, like I said, it's not very well mannered to just bail out of a team league like that. he said he was going to continue to play in CSL
but the division rounds are over and won't start for another 2-3 months.

Don't you think you'll be hurting your CSL team by playing by not practicing? If you like CSL enough you should stick around and practice for it :D (i dunno how good your csl team is so this may not apply)

to be honest it's a really complicated thing that I don't think I'd be able to explain to save 2 people who know me really well. It's not so much about the time consumption, really.

come on, you could be the jaedong to will's killer
but seriously, if it doesn't make you feel passionate then give it up

Well, after chatting with you a bit before last night's match this makes me a little sad... I hope that you don't give up playing iCCup completely (to the extent that it's one of the best ways to play if you don't have a fair amount of real life SC friends) and that this is mostly an issue of time management and prioritization. But really, you're the one most qualified to speak and you gotta go what you gotta do. I just think that it really is possible to strike a good balance between SC and the rest of your life. If you don't enjoy playing the game, then that's a different matter altogether.

That's quite a bit, and even so, just because one person is that good at SC for that length of time played, it doesnt mean everyone can get good easily.
Hell, I've been playing competitively for 2 years and I'm still C-.

This week in one of my classes, we were talking about fractals, and somehow the professor came out and said something along the lines of "sometimes, people don't realize they're just not good at something. Everyone is a genius at something, so stop wasting time on doing something you're not good at".
I think that could be applied to your science and starcraft thoughts. I don't mean to be depressing, it can be quite optimistic if take it the right way.
