Hi, in my accounting class, my teacher claims that I did not hand in the homework for Chapter 1-5 which I did and handed in.
My exam scores are great (96 exam average so far), but I only have one homework handed in, according to her.
What can I do in this situation? I already replied saying I did hand the work to her and asked her to look for it again. If she can't, I asked if I could make up for it and not be penalized because I DID do the homework. It is really important because one chapter = one point on my average so assuming she can't find it, 5 points are off my average.
Has anyone ever been in my situation where the professor claims he or she can't find the homework you handed in? How did you deal with the situation? Is there no hope for me?

My theory of computation prof temporarily lost my second test day of the test, whereupon I offered to write up a complete solution set on the spot without looking at the test. However, he ended finding it so there was problem there.

Well I usually have my friends with me when I pass the homework so I have witnesses, but really, homeworks should be passed during class time so that it won't get lost or anything.

Yeah, can't remember what class this was but a teacher lost three of my assignments. After pestering her to keep searching for them I ended up doing them over again for partial credit.

Well, this is a shitty situation but my advice would be to email her and ask if you can still complete it for partial credit. Then see her in person and ask her if she read your email yet.
Regardless on if you actually did do the homework, the fact is professors and teachers get this kind of shit all the time and you will get absolutely nowhere trying to blame them. If you ask for partial credit chances are they will either be nice and let you have an extension on the deadline for full credit, grant you the chance to get partial credit, or give you an alternate assignment for extra credit. Take what you can get.

happened to me all too often, worst of all most teachers are so arrogant they cant even fathom the possibility of a mistake. It is unlikely you will be able to make a deal.

Both of my parents are professors, and they said that any time something like this happens, they rarely believe the student. They get excuses and shit like this every day, and are really unforgiving about it. Your best bet would be to try to get her to give you an oral test over the homework to prove that you know the material, and then MAYBE you can get partial credit for them.

Whenever stuff like this happens, I just tell my teacher to look at my test grades - obviously I know the material, so I would've had no reason to not hand in homeowkr.
...
Of course sometimes I don't actually do the homework and still use this excuse, but hey, as I said - if I do so well on the tests, doing the homework would've just been a waste of time anyways

I don't know why you would ask for partial credit if you KNOW you handed in an assignment and if it's the prof's fault. Yeah profs aren't dumb, they probably hear a lot of bs stories, but if you have a ridiculous average anyway and are a good student, chances are you handed in your shit, and they'll believe you. Asking for a bit of a mark when you would have otherwise gotten close to full otherwise makes it seem like you're just fishing for marks because you fucked up. If he sticks with it, he'll get it. If the prof refuses, I'm sure he can go to the Dean and demonstrate that he's a good student and that he should not be penalized. My only advice is to be nice to the prof, or they may hold a grudge against you.
This happened to me as well, but in Canadian history in highschool. I had witnesses too that I had handed in this dumb report and I had the highest mark in the class, so it wasn't like I was some dumbass, but the bitch still didn't believe me even though she was useless. I don't even know if I got the marks but I kept bugging her about it and I think she ended up having a worse impression of me.
So yeah, if you know you did the work and handed it in, then fight for your mark, but be nice about it. Asking for partial marks would be like a suspect asking for a reduced jailtime sentence.

As others have said, it's not entirely the professor's/teacher's fault. Most of the time it is the student who is wrong in this type of situation. The only thing teachers can do is adjust their systems to minimize the chances of work being lost/misplaced... but it's still impossible to avoid all trouble of this type.
When all hope seems lost I think the best thing to do is for the teacher/professor to make it possible for the student to make up whatever credit they were gonna lose, but make it a bit of a pain in the ass of a process.

Usually the teacher will know you somewhat and see your track record for any previous assignments or even classes. Just tell them you have a good track record and grades and that should speak for itself whether you are a liar or not. They might not believe you but if they're good teachers they should have a sense of whether or not to trust you and give some leniency.

I've never had this happened to me but I did have lecturers claiming that I handed in stuff passed the dead line -_- (we submit essays/thesis to a physical pigeon box outside their office, so the fucker probably forgot to check after they made their round in the morning or something).
So what I've done is hosted all my work on an online repository (atm it's github) which means that everytime I check in and check out stuff, there is a time stamp and record of change and everything.
after the first year, the university changed to an electronic submission system so this kinda of stuff don't happen anymore but I've learned my lesson.
I think now days, they require all students to get a time stamp from the office when they hand in stuff and recieve an reciept for it (for subjects where the lecturer don't know or won't use the electronic system).
