Well, last month swine flu raped through my campus like Jack the ripper through 19th century London. I thought I had swiftly avoided it as I read over the past two weeks in the paper the number of reported cases going down, drastically. Then around last Thursday I started to notice myself getting sick, so I stayed home and rested all weekend, drinking a lot of water.
Friday night was hell, I slept for 16 hours, waking up every four or so in a cold or hot sweat, with a runny nose sometimes or a dry, burning throat other times. It hurt to even swallow water. After that night the symptoms started wearing off, but here I am on Monday afternoon back at school reading about swine flu symptoms and it seems like I have every single one. I talked to another person who actually had swine flu a few weeks ago and our experiences matched up fairly evenly.
I'm definitely on the down-slope of the illness. I can't wait to get better. This is all speculation, I don't know what it is.
But I did end up getting my girlfriend sick, for which I feel terrible. I think I might get some soup on the way home for her.

Be happy that you got the swine flue and not the regular season flue. (the swine flue is much more mild than the normal flue) I got the regular season flue last year and it sucked ass. basically your symptons but much worse +diarrea and it lasted 1 and a half damn week. I only got the swine flue this year which means I can't get the season flue. The swine flue only got me a soar throat for 3 days then it was gone.

Thank god for swine flue.
Yeah I read and heard that the swine version only lasts about 4-6 days. diarrhea was definitely a symptom here. But again, This could be the regular flu.. I have no idea and no insurance so I'll probably never know what it is. I'm currently about 3.5 days in, I guess we'll see how long it lasts
If you're not in any of the risk groups, perhaps your'e even under 20, then u shouldn't worry at all. Then it's just a flu, when it's gone it's gone, your'e immune to it.
I'm taking the vaccine this month, they're giving it to everybody who wants/needs it here, I don't really fear the swine flu, but IF U CAN U SHOULD take the vaccine, so u don't risk getting it, then risk giving it to others who can die from it.

Except the regular flu kills the very old and the very young, while the H1N1 kills people who are otherwise healthy.
I stayed home for about a week when i had swine flu...but i only had symptoms for like 3-4 days..possibly beacuse i was on meds though. Good luck. Swine flu isn't that bad ^^
No, I was tested, it was swine flue. And yes it is milder because 1) Not many people in Sweden has actually been infected by it since the season flue started at the same time as the swine flue here so the season flue which is stronger simply killed the swineflue once it infected the body. we only have like 2000 people or something totally.
2) the Deadliness of the swineflue compared to the season flue is very low. we have an early death between 2000 to 3000 sweden each year in seasonflue, the swine flue has only killed 6 people, were 3 of these deaths were direclty after that they were injected with the vaccine.
@Manifesto7: the swineflue has so far killed people that have had a terminal sickness, old age or with no recent diagnose, there hasn't been any person that were diagnosed as "perfect health" and then died when they got the swine flue.

Yes, thank god for that.
I haven't looked at the statistics but I'm wondering how H1N1 compares to more standard flues quantitatively... if anyone has any suggestion for how I could go about that or wants to present some info please let me know.

The average flu season kills around 36,000 americans a year. The swine flu has so far killed just over 1000 americans.
Yeah but that girl in the video has to be the unluckiest person ever for that reaction to happen like that. I doubt another person in our generation will have such a reaction to a flu shot.
And yeah I'd be more worried about the regular flu anyways, as said above. Swine just gets more attention because it's shiny and new, and that's what interests people.
