Well I woke up this morning feeling like the truck that hit me yesterday backed up and hit me again. In an attempt to get the morning started I got up and walked towards the bathroom, only to get sick halfway there. After recovering, I went to bed and tried to sit and stop being dizzy. I woke up an hour later and realized I had missed class as well as the test, just fucking perfect.
I called the doctor and was lucky enough to been seen the same day. While driving to the doctor I remembered that I now had new insurance information since I now had benefits through UPS. I arrived at the doctor 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment.
45 minutes later and a ton of paperwork signed, and what not I was called back. I told the nurse what I was there for and the usual she took my temp which was 101. I just looked at her when she said I was sick. Twenty minutes later the doctor walked in. He checked my ears, throat, and eyes. Listened to my breathing and asked me what was bothering me. In his words I had the flu, with an "on set of Bronchitis. He left the room and then came back with his nurse, both were now wearing masks, and gave me my two prescription and a letter telling me to no have any contact with persons for 48 hours. The doctor also told me before I left that I wear a mask. I said sure but when they left I threw it in the garbage.
So I pulled out of the parking lot trying to figure out the number on the back of my Medco prescription card, half way down Germantown road someone finally picked up. In short where I usually have my prescriptions filled, when I was under my Mother's insurance, was not In Network under my insurance. Luckily I could have orders filled at Walgreens. So with 5 dollars in my pocket and anxiety on mind on much the copay would be I dropped off the prescriptions. I filled some info that was needed and was told it would take an hour. While I waited, I must have dosed off cause when I opened my eyes 40 minutes had passed. To my right a girl was sitting by me reading a Magazine, and to my left was a bunch of balloons. Before long my name was called, to my surprise, and relief, my copay was only a $1.21. Awesome. No idea if was due to the medicine being generic, or just good coverage.
So here I am trying to listen to music on the computer with broken headphones, Blood Diamond showing on USA. Too bored to play Aion, or Champions Online. Don't really want to play Empire: Total War seeing as I have been playing the game pretty much everyday as the Spanish. I need to email my professors about my situation and try to figure out how I can get someone to pick up work at the campus. Guess I will have to call tomorrow and find the office for a certain teacher(s).
Guess I could go get a glass of ice water.

Funny. I went to dentist for my root canal treatment this afternoon.
Not a fun experience.

You do realize there's a reason they asked you to wear a mask right?... They were probably following protocol in case of a H1/N1 flu strain. Btw, is H1/N1 still a huge deal in the US or is that mostly in europe/china? I guess illnesses go by trends. After all flu season is comming up.

Ugh I just got over the flu. Lost many hours of productivity, which I am just now starting to make up for =\. Hope you feel better soon.

The flu will have to wait its turn, I got a cold.

Throwing away the mask is just a callous disregard for the health of others. At a minor annoyance to you, you stop potentially contagious aerosols from spreading after a sneeze or cough, endangering anyone around you.
That being said, take your prescriptions, get lots of rest, eat well, and stay hydrated. Nothing much else you can do.

I got over the flu at the beginning of the week, after having it for 2 weeks, and today I'm starting to fucking get it again. Fuck my life.
I know how you feel =/

Yeah I had the flu recently as well. I can't be sure it was H1N1, but it's been going around lots of schools in the U.S, and it's not flu season. Indeed, it was just like the normal flu, but I still felt like shit for a week...
Take Ibuprofen. It works really well for me at least.

Ive had the flu for the past 4days, feeling better. Probably will be at 100% by morning. Is there seriously no way to tell whether or not its H1N1 without going to the doctor? I want to be able to say my immune system raped it.

eMbrace speaks the truth: there is too much hype to the swine flu. It is only a bit more aggressive than seasonal flu. It has like 2-3 times the mortality of normal flu which is not actually that high but we have now invested billions into fighting it when millions of people in Africa die each year of malaria. I guess it is normal to worry only when "disaster" strikes close to home, but the WHO got some weird priorities...

Why do you go to the doctor when you get the flu?

rofl that always cracks me up!

This, and you almost sound proud that you threw away the mask. I mean come on, later you go to Walmart, potentially infecting 1 billion people. How do you think you got it in the first place?
And yeah, hope you get better nevertheless.

If 50 million Americans and Europeans die from an epidemic because up to the point right before it happened, they gave that disease no priority since it wasn't as deadly as malaria, then the effects of losing millions of first world country workers is going to destroy the economy and charitable healthcare is going to disappear in an instant.

Swine flue is THE ONLY kind of flu going around right now in America.

I've had the swine flu, it's not that bad. Just make sure to stay at home for a week and you should be fine. The temperature should be quite high, but if it's over 42 degrees C or continues for over 4 days you should seek help.
