...ban people from Teamliquid (an open Dota2, Sc2, Diablo 3 gaming forum) for trying a maphack once on an sc2 account?

Try to leave your personal feelings out of it, I just really was not aware you could receive a permanent forum ban for breaking Blizzard ToS in the past. Does this mean that all former hackers (TT1, etc) should also be banned on Teamliquid? That would be the logical conclusion, am I not correct? Stronger team colours mod also technically is a breach of blizzard ToS, so do people who've used this mod also need to be banned or did I miss a section of the rules specifically saying this about injecting a maphack with your sc2 install?

I understand a ban on my sc2 account would be warranted, but I never thought of Teamliquid as a branch of Blizzard Entertainment, dishing out bans for them.

Thanks.

P.S: I'm making this thread because I got a forum ban from Plexa because some ignorant person put my sc2 account name on a list of EU sc2 maphackers.
I'm embarrased by my past actions and even more ashamed of my present thoughts and future endeavors to clear my name.

It is not actually open, people think it is because registering is open to the public, but this forum is privately maintained and operated. Those same private people reserve the right to choose who they do and do not want to be able to post on these forums.

So basically the mods can ban for anything they want, including hacking.

Cheaters are Cheaters. Not welcome here.

And yes, this is a private forum. There is no obligation for the mods to let someone post if they don't want to.

However, I do not cheat or maphack. I'm asking if there's any precedent for this in the past or in the rules of Teamliquid. TT1 among many other pros, semi pros, or active community members has also maphacked in the past. Are you saying it's an oversight for the mods to leave them unbanned?

And, I'd assume the mods would be obligated to do so by Nazgul or whoever owns Teamliquid. That would be how it works in any other business, correct? The owner, admins, set the rules and the mods follow to the best of their abilities? Else, why do we bother to have any written rules at all for this forum?

I really get the feeling from both of your replies, that you're just venting anger on maphackers and not looking at the situation from a remotely objective standpoint.

There is precedent for admins banning for hacking, lots of precedent.

If you feel you were banned erroneously then you should pm a mod or admin rather then making a thread in general.

People like TT1 and a small handful of others have their accounts because they have proven their honesty and dedication with many years of commitment.

I support banning of map hackers; if that's your queston, then there's my answer.

Anyway, regardless of precedent, this is private forum and the mods could ban you for eating Cheddar cheese if they wanted.

The written rules are a guideline, there is really no entitlement here. A mod could literally ban you just because he dislikes your username if he wants to. Also, it's mentioned in the rules that pro players, posters with a high postcount/who have been members for a long time etc gets preferential treatment. TT1 isn't going to be banned for cheating in the past, while a nobody might. Unfair? Sure, but it's a private forum, the administrators and moderators can do what they want.

Many years is an overstatement. I have also been playing legitmately for years and continue to do so. I tested a 3rd party program for one day, can you please cite me a precedent for former Blizzard sc2 eu ToS breachage being justification for an immediate and permanent ban? I.E: Bans of people who use stronger team colours, or a specific section written anywhere which states the forums intent to ban anyone who they suspect of hacking sc2 in the past.

I'm not asking whether they "can" ban me. All these posts are pointless. I'm asking if they have any reason to do so at all, based on any past precedent of any kind...

Also, "our" house is the key term here. Not "Plexa"s house. If he's doing something outside of all the written "guidelines" and views of other mods, should I really remain banned? I'm just saying there's no logical, written or implicit reason for my ban and I'd like to appeal it on those grounds.

@Below: FUCKING NAZGUL!

That's like saying "the cops are the government, so they set the laws".

No, the cops are the mods and they follow what the owners of TL say are the general rules, overall. Would you be as happy if a mod indeed started randomly banning asian people or something? I'm guessing not. It's a double standard of yours, I'm looking for any form of a reason for me ban.

TT1 was not allowed on this site when he was first caught; he was permabanned, and he earned the ire of all TL. There's precedent to believe you maphacked quite recently, so I can't think of a reason why you'd not be banned for that.

Next time you want to fuck around with maphacks, don't do it in multiplayer games =/

The rules are not actual hard rules, they are guidelines. Mods can literally ban for whatever reason they want, and the only thing keeping them in check is other mods.

Again, if you want to contest your ban, talk to a mod or an admin, not us. There is nothing that we can do for you really.

Why do you even give a fuck? Who cares if you cant write some useless shit on this random forum full of a bunch of pretentious people. I guess if you're one of those people who get off by writing those essays you see dotted around threads maybe I can see why you'd be mad.

This is the forum you are looking for:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=7

They are not banned for breach of Blizz ToS, they are banned for either 1) bringing progaming into disrepute, 2) ruining a game for others (i.e. in the interest of others having fun with the game the site is dedicated to) or 3) spreading hacking scripts to others.

Some formerly known maphackers have been excluded from TL tournaments and streaming before. Just because someone well known might not get the harshest of harsh treatments doesn't that anyone else won't. Go read TL's commandments if you really want it clarified.

Moved to Website Feedback and uh, banned the OP.

Yes, of course we ban hackers. This community revolves around competitive computer games. Cheating is one of the lowest things you can do. You don't deserve a place in the community if you think it's alright to fuck everyone else over to give yourself an advantage. There is plenty of precedent for this. On occasion, known hackers have been let back into the community, but not without having served their time and having shown the proper remorse.

You admitted to downloading a maphack and playing several games with it. I honestly don't care if it was just a few games or a lot of them. There's no real way for us to check that. Even if it was only for a few games, do you think it's alright that those people you played against got screwed out of a fair game? It's unacceptable.

Additionally, you already have a terrible mod record. The account that Plexa banned was an alternative account you made to dodge a 30 day ban on this account back in October. It slipped under the radar, but it's not allowed. Suffice to say that given your horrible track record and admittance of hacking, we don't want to see you here for a very long time.

Banned for hacking has little to nothing to do with Blizzard's ToS. It just means we don't want you in our community anymore In the past, people have been banned from hacking(most notably and recently Spades), account leveling and pretending to be someone else, stealing, and leaving people stranded without a ride irl.

Actually, Plexa is an admin. So in your analogy, if Nazgul, the owner of TL, is like a mayor, then Plexa would be on the city council making the laws. =P

There's always next time Kiante. Sure as there will be a tomorrow there will be another person that makes tolerating cheaters their soapbox in the least hospitable place they could find.
